Overview

Becca Robbins is happy to help research a large farmers’ market and tourist trading post—until she has to switch her focus to finding a killer…

Becca is in Arizona, spending some time at Chief Buffalo's Trading Post and its neighboring farmers' market to check out how the two operate together. She's paired with Nera, a Native American woman who sells the most delicious pecans—right next to a booth with the hottest peppers money can buy.

When Nera asks her to deliver some beads to Graham, a talented jewelry maker inside Chief Buffalo's, Becca is grateful to get a break from the heat. Little does she realize that the heat’s about to get cranked up even more—because Graham has been murdered, and she’s the one who finds his body. She soon discovers that Graham was Nera’s cousin, and that her uncle was recently killed too, after receiving a threatening note. Becca begins to think the murders may have something to do with the family’s hot pepper business. Now she must find the killer, before she’s the one in the hot seat…

    Really?

While this story was OK it was just a short story. $3 for a 59 page short story?! I might have purchased another book by this author but won't risk my $8 for what may end up being another short one.

    A Tasty Morsel

If you love Paige Shelton's Farmers' Market Series, this eBook is for you! A setting change mixes things up a bit for our heroine, Becca. Don't miss it! :o)

    Just OK.

I always champion women writers. They usually do great character development and their plotting is rational and shows attention to detail.
I'm sorry to say, this book does neither. I was actually glad to be at the end. Learned some probably inaccurate info on pepper growing in the SW, and.....to skip Paige Shelton other books.

    The P.E.P.P.E.R. rules

We do NOT believe in StarClan. I made a different religion, at 'i believe'. It is called Galastatism, not StarClanism.
We do not:
Godmod (Gm)
Powerplay (pp)
Overpower (op)
Tatletail (tt)
Powerseek (ps)
Knowthis (kt)
What is Gming?
Godmodding is doing godly things, magic, wings, everything cats don't have. Mirrorstone is the exception.
What is Pping?
Powerplaying is when you are able to attack and run away in one post. It is also ignoring obvious things such as someone saying "slashes through eye, at most makes blind, at least gives scar under eyes." Giving people options is fair. You must give 2-5 options.
What is Oping?
Overpowering is quiting a fight or downjudging them because of religious/age/rank reasons. Everyone deserves a chance. It is also dodging or deflecting everything, options often have a dodge option as well, like "if you deflect with your paw, you are scared there for life."
What is Tting?
Tattletaling is ignoring a person because of the slightest mistake. In this Clan, you report to the moderator (me, i will always be here even after my cat dies. Title the post REPORT) and i will say if you can block the roleplayer. Add in the post what the crime was (Gm, Pp, Op, Tt, Ps, Kt) and how everyone reacted. Make this post at 'criminal' res 1 and i will post suitable consequences for each person.
What is Psing?
Powerseeking is when you rp more than one cat of very high rank (Ex, you roleplay Imperiale and Mbreti) or seek that. We will not ignore you, we will make you either downgrade or kill a cat.
What is Kting?
Knowthising is when you are fighting a cat you rp with in a Clan and know what they will say next, so you make it imposible. Your cat shouldn't know this.
We do:
Respect all ages, sizes) ranks, and genders equally (but not so much that the ranking and consequences get ignored).
Allow all, even if they do believe in StarClan. We simply cleanse them using the Mirrorstone.
Obey all Imperiale, Adjoint, Mbreti, and Epike orders if we are under them.
ONLY the Imperiale can do anything with the sacred Mirrorstone!

Like the "Between the Numbers" books of Janet Evanovich, Paige Shelton dishes up a bonus mini episode of her Farmer's Market Mysteries.

It seems wherever Becca goes trouble follows, but the murder is quickly solved and Becca heads home where she belongs. Interesting new characters into a new place. Learned a bit about peppers too!

This is a fun short story while we waited for the release of A Killer Maize that is available today.
