    Loved Reading Red Mortal!

After finishing RED MORTAL, the last book of Deidre Knight's Gods of Midnight series, I long for the heroes and heroines in this series to appear in a movie! I've been on a great journey with Deidre's spectacular and imaginative story lines, and King Leonidas' romance with Daphne, the Oracle of Delphi in RED MORTAL, swept me away to a grand finish full of great action and passion.

Immortal King Leo has started aging, being cursed by the jealous god Ares, and his soul is in danger of drifting to Elysium, where the Immortal Daphne will never appear, thereby severing any possibility of their embracing eternity together. They only have days to break the curse before the aging process reaches its climax and battle scarred King Leo breathes his last breath, ending an intimate relationship that has only begun.

King Leo had led his Spartan Warriors in the tragic Battle of Thermopylae, and after their heroic defeat which saved the lives of many while losing their own, a chosen few drank from the River Styx and pledged to fight the evil of the world forever, becoming Immortal. But even so, evil has been cast King Leo's way and it will take more than the Immortal Spartans to remove the curse. It takes the co-operation from a surprising source, which shows that love conquers all.

Deidre Knight has a quality in her writing that gives compassion to those who are physically and emotionally hurting, and redemption to those who strive to change their lives. She is an author who truly cares about each and every one of us and that shines through with every word she writes. That's what draws me to her - her beautiful and caring spirit. That's what keeps me an avid fan.

    I won't buy another one!

At first I really liked the story line to this series. And I was fine with the gay aspect as well, however it's getting to be way to much. Now every other character is gay? Whatever! I am by no means a homo-phobe but honestly these books are getting ridiculous. Eh, well I won't buy another.

    a great romantic urban fantasy

Before he became an Immortal Warrior, King Leonides led the 300 Spartans in combat twenty-five centuries ago at Thermopylae. When he and six of his comrades died, they drank the water of Styx and made the vow that made them immortal but beholding to Ares the God of War. Now Leonides and the God of War's half-sister Daphne the Oracle of Delphi admit their love for one another, Ares punishes the Immortal Warrior by turning him into a mortal with an accelerated aging towards death.

Demon Centaur Sable is heading towards the light ever since he helped the warriors, but feels conflicted as he loves Sophie Lowery the seer. Ares offers him a deal to fulfill his desires, but which if accepted will betray his brothers in arms.

The final Gods of Midnight series is a great romantic urban fantasy with two touching complicated tales of love. The fast-paced story line hooks the audience from start to finish as do the previous Red tales (see Red Fire, Red Demon and Red Kiss). Leonides and Sable are epic heroes while the females they love are their equals. Readers will appreciate Deidre Knight's contemporary mythos-historical blending as love and war battle for supremacy.
