One of the best books EVER!!! If you like Ever After High, you will like this! This book is especially laugh out loud funny and even better than the Ever After High series! This is my sister and I's favorite of the first two books in this series, but we highly recommend the first one too!

Title: Grimmtastic Girls Book 2: Red Riding Hood Gets Lost Author: Joan Holub & Suzanne Williams Publisher: Scholastic Inc Published: 3-25-2014 ISBN: 10-0545519845 ISBN-13-978-0545519847 E-Book ASIN: B00G5N4RTG Pages: 192 Genre: Children's Literature Tags: Fantasy, Myth Overall Rating: Excellent Little Red Riding Hood was not really in the forest to visit Grandma, The truth is she, like myself can get lost on her was to her own bathroom. Red, bless her heart wants to be in the school play, imagining herself to one day being a great actress of great renown. Unfortunately she suffers from stage fright. While out walking in Neverwood Forest she become hopelessly lost and comes across Wolfgang. Thinking he may be part of E.V.I.L. that is threatening Grimm Academy, Red must put on the acting job of her life and make use of her magic basket to find out if he is. Does she have the talent to carry it off or will Wolfgang see through her? The second book in the series is a fantastic as the first and enjoyed as well. My niece and I both enjoyed this story. Proving whether you are seven or fifty there is a child in all of us who enjoy reading fairy tales. I have read the older version we all grew up with and passed them on to my nieces and nephews, but we all agree that Grimmtastic Girls are even better. With a more modern twist on the scenes and names young readers today can identify more with the characters. I am looking forward to reading more about Red's friends Snow and Rapunzel in future stories.

I was lucky enough to read the first and second books right in a row and I must say I fell in love on the first few pages of the first book! I may be 37 years old but I love fairy tales and mythology and magical things and this series has it all :) The setting of the books reminded me of the Harry Potter novels which are a favorite series of mine. What I liked about these books though was that each book centers on a different character even though the others are still there :) Red Riding Hood was one of my favorite stories as a child so this book especially was great for me! I enjoyed the way the authors completely immerse the reader in the "life" of Grimmlandia and came up with their own slang and sayings to match it! Red is a great character, again much better than the old princesses and heroines who have no character or personality outside of the world they make with their princes. I just love to see the names the authors come up with to use that still encompass the "old" versions of the fairy tales but also breathe new life into them. Red, Wolfgang, Cinda - they are all modernized versions :) I would be proud for children to read these books, I truly believe they will be a huge hit in the genre of childrens books! I laughed a lot when reading these - especially the part about "Red" being someone who gets lost all the time! Just another example of the play on the old fairy tales and her getting lost in the forest and comes across the Big Bad Wolf :) By the end of this book I am DYING to know who is really a part of the E.V.I.L. society so now I can't wait until the next books in the series to find out more :) All in all I would say this series thus far is GRIMMTASTIC!!!!! **I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review***

The magical adventure continues in the second Grimmtastic Girls book. In Red Riding Hood Gets Lost, Red and her friends follow the mapestry into the enchanted forest in search of treasure. But when Red gets lost and bumps into Wolfgang, she isn't sure whether or not to trust him. The characters each have quirks and personalities that make them unique. The mysterious Wolfgang is an especially interesting character in this book. For most of the story, neither the characters nor the reader can be certain if Wolfgang is a good guy—or a charming bad guy. This is a fun, lighthearted series about the characters from the Grimm fairy tales and nursery rhymes. They have all come to Grimm Academy for protection from the E.V.I.L. Society. These books should be read in order, since there is an overarching plot that connects all the books together. Joan Holub and Suzanne Williams have brought a delightful new series to the middle grade market. These books are fun, full of friendship, and even have a splash of age appropriate romance. I read Red Riding Hood Gets Lost, the Second in the Grimmtastic Girls series and I thought it was pretty cool. The book was about Red escaping from the lair and in the end, saving the day. The adventure she went on and how she escaped was really awesome. I don’t know anyone else who has a magic basket - sure wish I had one so I could pull anything I want out of it whenever I wanted! That would be so awesome! Wolfgang would help her then zoom away which I thought was kind of weird. I loved how when Red was onstage auditioning to be Red Riding Hood, she forgot her lines and had stage fright just like a real person might have. Then she got scared and fell down to the floor and curled up into a ball. The weirdest part was that the director of the play was - are you ready for this? – A Bee. Of course, the funniest part was when Red accidentally kept swatting the director. Lol The thing I got from the story really was don’t trust strangers. You know, really they can be anybody so think, use your brain and don’t go places you know you shouldn’t. I think girls about 10-12 would really like this story but hey, that’s just me. The book was really fun to read because of all of the action and excitement. I would like to read more from the authors so Ladies, thank you and I really liked your book! I am here to admit, I love Ms. Holub’s and Ms. William’s Series The “Goddess Girls” and when I saw the chance to get to review their newest series “The Grimmtastic Girls” I jumped at it. Plus, I think a lot of boys enjoy reading books that are kind of written for girls anyway and I say there’s nothing wrong with that! This is a great series, and I love the concept of fractured fairy tales in an early MG book. ;) I love that the teachers come from many fairy-tales – Mrs. Jabberwocky, Mr. Hump-Dumpty, etc. Kids will love to recognize the names and fairy tales they come from. In the second book of this series, Red has a problem with stage fright and has to deal with and tries to overcome it. In the second book we get to know more about the characters and also the mysterious E.V.I.L. Society. These books are great for young advanced readers and MG kids looking for a fun story. *NOTE I got a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The plot thickens in this second book! We’re back at Grimm Academy and Red just froze on stage. All she ever wanted to do was be an actor, but maybe she’s good at something else. Certainly not good at finding her way. When Red and her friends Cinda, Snow, and Rapunzel try to find a treasure in Neverwood forest, Red loses her way. Will she run into the big bad wolf before she can find her way out? The first book in this series, Cinderella Stays Late, introduces you to these young friends and reveals the academy in all its spendor. There’s also a secret EVIL society emerging. In this second book you get more involved with these girls, the mystery of who’s good or bad deepens, and it’s told from Red’s point of view. There’s some puppy love going on too. Prince Wolfgang likes to tease Red by calling her by different versions of the color, like crimson and scarlet. Once she sees past this annoying habit, she sees a really cute boy. I’m really becoming attached to these characters and I’m curious who will be starring in the next Grimmtastic book. There’s still Snow and Rapunzel and many more to get to know. A tisket, a tasket, what’s next in these author’s baskets?

The Grimmtastic books for older elementary age or pre-teen age girls are such fun! In this story, Red tries very hard to prepare for the audition for the school play. When it is her turn, things do not go as planned. Meanwhile, Red and her friends are trying to discover the secret of "the map"! It gets a little frightening to venture out. The adventure, intrigue, mystery, humor and romance in this sequel is captivating!  This book is even better than the first one! The title and the book cover were very creative and fit the tale well. The colorful, eye-catching cover told it all! One could feel the personalities of the characters and almost visualize the background scenes. This deserves a full Four and a Half Stars rating. *This book was sent to me by the author for an honest review, of which I have given.
