Children can relate to every page in this book and it will become their own story as they read and remember their same enjoyment of the very same play experiences during rain. Mentioning the use of the senses during rain - watching, listening, smelling - teaches the child to enjoy the present moment, whatever it is. Make-believe play in the rain is thrilling for a child and the fact that the neighbor stands barefoot in the rain and wet grass shows children that adults still savor childhood moments. The words like 'slapping', 'stirring', 'splashing' and 'wading' create great excitement! But the sun returns, and now that is the moment of joy! Wonderfully descriptive illustrations!

This is a perfect book to read to your preschool-aged children. The storyline is relevant and easy for children to understand. The illustrations are bright and colorful. One of my favorites.
