What do you get when you combine a mystery with a touch of comedy and a pinch of romance? Red Tape. A little something for everyone!

Municipal Clerk Chelsey Alton gets more than she bargained for when she encounters an irate resident and loose cannon, Robert Triggers. Triggers has been harassing the employees in the small, Jersey shore town where she works and he becomes the prime suspect when multiple attempts to sabotage the municipal building are made. Chelsey begins to piece it all together and finds herself framed for a crime she did not commit. She narrowly escapes several attempts at her demise, only to find herself in a much more precarious situation. Will she make it out alive or end up a tragic victim at the hands of a madman?

I absolutely loved this book. It's about a small corrupt government with a few wacky residents. I laughed, I cried, I enjoyed it. I would love to see more work by this author. I especially like the character named Bonnie. She is hilarious. I also thought the quirky triggers made a good villain. The part about Hurricane Sandy was sad, but well written. I would highly recommend this!

I thought this was a wonderful crime mystery. There was a plot and a subplot with the government. I laughed out loud at some of the "Bonnieisms". It only took me two days to read it. I would say buy it!

"Red Tape" is a tale of love, loss, human tragedy and above all, the human spirit enduring in the face of catastrophe! Chelsey Alton is a single mom who has to balance a baby girl, family and work as a municipal clerk in the cozy, relaxed town of Sunshine. Soon Chelsey finds herself broiled in one controversy after another. Maybe Sunshine is not that cozy after all! Chelsey and her assistant Bonnie are soon caught between an irate, unbalanced resident and a sinister, deadly mayor! Everything turns upside down when Sunshine is hit by a powerful cyclone that leaves massive destruction in its wake! Is there anyone Chelsey Alton can still turn to for help anymore?

Michele Lynn Seigfried has woven a tale that evokes a range of emotions in the reader: admiration for protagonist Chelsey Alton's personality, fear for her life, suspense about the evil Mayor's scheming and sadness at the ravaged town of Sunshine in the aftermath of a killer cyclone. The author's style is fast and riveting and holds the reader's interest throughout the book. The plot develops well, building up the suspense until the reader is hooked! It is a gripping, gritty novel that leads the reader through a maze of events and emotions, electrifying drama in one page to love and compassion in the next! This book is a compelling page turner that revolves around a single mom's difficult journey through a natural calamity and, worse still, an unreasonable, insane resident with murder on his mind - Chelsey's murder!

"Welcome, all Clan Mates." She mewed. "As you know, this is an all new Clan, and l am assigning everyone jobs. You, faithful and loyal cats stepped forwards, coming and joining this Clan. "Crystalpool, Today l call upon StarClan to ask you to join in on Herbpaw's training until you are gone, and she shall step forwards and claim your spot as medicine cat. I ask you to pass on all your knowledge to this young and thriving apprentice." She breathed slowly. "Herbpaw, please step forward." She mewed, watching as the Apprentice stepped forwards. "Crystalpool is now your mentor." She said, watching them touch noses. "Thank you." MorningStar mewed, as the Clan cheered, "HERBPAW! HERBPAW! CRYSTALPOOL! CRYSTALPOOL!" She smiled, and continued. "Second, I needed a co-leader and a deputy. The co-leader will take over while l am gone and the deputy shall re-enforce these rules. If the co-leader is not here, deputy will take over until one gets back. I am going to announce that. " she paused, remembering who she picked. "Bramblestorm, step forwards." She mewed. "Today l cl upon our warrior ancestors to watch you, and guide you, through this oppourtunity l am giving you today. I ask of you today, that you atch over and protect this Clan ith your life and heart." She paused, waiting for acceptance. "Thank you, now l name you, Bramblestorm, The Co-leader!" As everyone cheered, she touched noses with her. "And our deputy...This was a very hard decision, as two different cats deserved it. Jayeyes, and Venus are the two who deserve it. Sadly, l have to pick one....Our deputy shall be..Jayeyes." she glanced at Venus. "I am sorry," she said to her quietly. "JAYEYES! JAYEYES! VENUS! VENUS!" They cheered, for both. "Okay, Clan Meeting dismissed!" She flicked her tail, and jumped down.
