About the Author

César Cruz Rodríguez was born in New York, USA, with a condition known as Spina Bifida. Despite a devastating prognosis which included he would not be able to walk, either to live beyond adolescence, he went through several major surgeries until his young adulthood, which allowed him to live a relatively normal life. Although the so many obstacles he had to face, he studied and advanced course in Journalism, and obtained a degree in Psychology, and another in Social Work. Finally, he obtained a Ph.D. in Philosophy.

At an early age, he developed interest in reading and writing. By the same time, at age of eighteen years old, he started to offer conferences in different institutions and universities, while producing and hosting his own radio program, “News Analysis of the Twentieth Century” regarding social issues.

In 1982, he decided to move to Boston, Massachusetts, where he decided to construct his academic and professional life. In the meantime, he dedicated to write articles for some newspapers and magazines, while working as a professor, social worker, and counselor.

In his trajectory as a writer, the author has received several awards and acknowledgements, including the “Golden Poet” award at the Seventh Annual Convention of Poetry, celebrated in New York City in 1991. The following year, his first book titled, “The Human Stages: Expressions and Something Else” was published.

Other books published by the author include, “Etiology of a Society in Crisis” (2006); “Reflections of a Society in Crisis: Redefining Violence in Puerto Rico” (2011); “John and his Girlfriends” (2018); “Through the Road: (2018); “Reflections of a Society in Crisis: Redefining Violence – Spanish version” (2019).
