By Fire Series: Book One

Dirk Krause is an asshole of the first degree. His life is a hell of his own making, and he makes everyone around him just as miserable. When he’s injured on the job while fighting a fire, he’s nearly unbearable to the hospital staff, and of course no one from his unit cares enough to visit.

Lee Stockton is the new guy at the station, so he gets saddled with the job of bringing Dirk a sympathy bouquet from the guys at the firehouse. To Dirk’s surprise, Lee sees through him like a pane of glass and doesn’t take any of his crap. Lee’s determined to get Dirk to stop being a dick just to push everyone away. When their fighting turns to fucking, will the fireworks shine brightly on a possible relationship or leave them with nothing but ashes?

Firemen Dirk and Lee fall fast and hard for each other. But Dirk has issues with family and personal fears to overcome. And Lee is not the type to take his crap in the meantime. Andrew Grey consistently writes entertaining and moving stories with likeable, engaging characters. This book is no exception, very satisfying, even though it leaves some issues to be resolved in future books. I look forward to the rest of the series!

This book is part of a series of three. There is no closure at the end of the book...it just stopped. To get the whole story you'll need to buy two more books. Also, Dirk was too much of an jerk to make him likeable, and then he did a 180, and was too penitent. The character's relationship was stilted and not really believable. Not Grey's best book. Or, third of a book.

Enjoyed this book, as I love books about firefighters. I just wish it was a little longer.
