I purchaced this book last year for a gift and found myself reading it. The story is a redneck take on "the night before christmas". It deals with the main character meeting up with the christmas redneck, and all the interesting gifts he gives. After I gave my friend the book he thought it was a funny story. The author of this book has wrote other takes of "the night before Christmas". I think this book would make a great gift idea for any good ol boy or girl you know.

This is good natured fun for all! Excellent gift for kids or for that person who has everything.

In this hilarious version of the classic 'The Night Before Christmas', David Davis writes from his intimate knowledge of the South. The portrayal of a Red Neck Family is of course a parody of the Southern lifestyle, but is done in good taste with elements of both fact and fiction. The story line is about the Red Neck Santa bringing the usual gifts to these folks, moon pies and cola, a CB and picture of Elvis. The dogs as Santa's Reindeer are a great addition to the story and, of course, the Red pickup as Santa's sleigh is right on. Great fun for the kids and grown-ups too.

This book is more fun than a gaggle of clowns! Children love it, but adults will enjoy the humor too. I plan on buying one for my brother in law.

I have been previously spoiled by the other 'Night Before Christmas' titles illustrated by James Rice, and the illustrations did not dissapoint me, although the lyric was not of the quality I expected. Slurs about rednecks and the associated stereotyping of 'those people' dissapointed me. As might be expected, very un-politically correct and somewhat derogatory, but the kids still liked it.
