The last McKay standing is knocked to his knees…

Rough Riders, Book 15

Three years ago, Dalton McKay looked across the altar and saw the woman he knew he’d love for the rest of his life…only it wasn’t his bride. That’s when he took the McKays’ love-’em-and-leave-’em reputation to new heights—fleeing the ceremony and Wyoming.

Now a family issue has brought Dalton back to Sundance, giving him a chance to prove to everyone—especially the woman he thought he lost—that he’s a changed man.

Aurora “Rory” Wetzler has fallen for cowboy hottie Dalton’s smooth-talkin’ ways too many times. So he’s determined to convince her he’s playing for keeps this go around? Fine. She’ll call that bluff—she can’t ignore their intense chemistry or resist smokin’ hot sex, but she’s not willing to gamble her heart again.

Dalton has plenty of fences to mend with the McKays, but his biggest fear is that Rory doesn’t believe they have a future. He’ll have to pull out all the stops to show her they belong together for the long haul.

Warning: Contains a sexy cowboy who tames his sassy lady love with his romantic and his kinky side. In explicit detail.

She's done it again! Ms James has this incredible way of making her characters real. They're all flawed, sometimes bruised, sometimes clueless, amazing, honest, and believable characters. I find it so hard to believe that after 15 books in a series Lorelei James still makes every book feel like the first one. I will never be able to pick a favorite book, as they are all amazing in there own way. I always find myself wanting to go to Wyoming and track down the McKay men so I can have them all to myself... Well I guess I'll have to settle for having em all in my library instead of in my bed *sigh* Anywhoo, the book was amazing, the writing style great, the feelings were deep without coming off as forced yada yada ya.... And I swear Lorelei James can make a sentence that, on its own would sound cheesy, into some damn beautiful words. Guess that makes me cheesy then huh?

The last McKay standing is knocked to his knees… Dalton McKay left Addie at the alter and five days later left town altogether.  Now three years later he is back and he is determined to win the one woman he has not been able to get out of his mind.  Rory has known Dalton since she was six.  He punched her V-card and they’ve had a few hot encounters after which Dalton has always left.  Now he wants her to believe he has changed but she isn’t sure she can afford to let him break her heart again.  This Redneck Romeo is going to have to bring out his a-game if he wants to win his Juliette. Lorelei James is the Queen of sexy cowboy romance.  This book is proof positive that she can keep it coming just as hot as ever with a story that will have you staying up late to finish.  I hope we get to check in with the McKays in the future.

We finally get Dalton's story. The last single McKay Wildman is all grown up and ready to claim his woman. Dalton comes back to town due to a family illness and ends up resolving the issues that caused him to leave town in the first place. Dalton makes it clear he isn't happy being back but then he finds a reason to stay...his friend Rory changes everything. Rory has no intention of getting to know the new Dalton. She doesn't quite believe that he has changed but decides to give their friendship another chance. Rory and Dalton are two people that have changed so much through the series. It is great to finally have their story but also a little sad because it is the final chapter in the Rough Rider series. LJ does leave you feeling good about the book and series. We also get appearances from past McKays, their spouses and children. This is a must read. Especially if you love her Rough Riders series. If you are knew to her work then I recommend reading the whole series. This series is on my keeper shelf.

Another McKay Masterpiece!  Dalton returns home after his father becomes ill.  Not that he and Casper have a relationship but he comes home at his brother's request.  He has been away for several years after running from the altar.  When he does get back, he runs into the reason he has been gone-Rory.  As they try to find their way around the hurts of the past, they find that the attraction for each other is stronger than ever.  Both have grown up in the years that Dalton has been gone.  He knows that Rory is what he wants and will go to any lengths to prove to her that the has changed.  As with all of her Rough Rider books, Miss James also gives you an update on all of the other members of the McKay and West family.  Although there is only 1 more book in the series, I am hoping that Miss James will occasionally offer us a novella, as she did with Short Rides, that will give us updates into the lives of our favorite ranching family.

~Reviewed by FRANCESCA & posted at Under the Covers Book Blog Dalton, Dalton, Dalton…*sigh* Oh how I love thee! I NEVER thought I would say that. See, after COWBOY CASANOVA I was so mad at him I didn’t think he would be able to redeem himself enough that I would fall for him. I mean, I always trust Ms. James to deliver a great book but some heroes are closer to the heart than others. Well, Dalton made me fall….hard! I’ve been impatiently waiting to find out what went on between Rory and Dalton as we’ve gotten glimpses here and there in the past few books. Well, as some of you might’ve guessed, this book takes place a few years in the future from where GONE COUNTRY left off. Dalton has gone off and grown up. Leaving some of his McKay childish, stubborn ways behind him. He comes back more mature, a man. Grizzly beard an all. I started to fall for him when I realize there would be no fighting the attraction for Dalton. He knows from page one that he wants Rory for himself, finally. And he really stops at nothing to get her there. He’s determined, he’s sexy in his seduction and with just enough humor to make him real. And yes, I’ll say it again… all the more reasons to fall for him…hard! But lets not leave Rory out of this equation. As I often find with Ms. James’ heroines, she’s amazing. She’s got a strong but delicate core, she can face the world but she also needs love and attention. And she has one weakness. Dalton! I totally understand her. Their chemistry is off the charts, their courting is endearing and extremely hot. But their love is not something that sprung out of nowhere. It’s always been there, growing and getting stronger. This book just shows that it can withstand anything so they can be together because they were meant to be. And then there’s the drama around them… The main reason Dalton had come back was because Casper had a heart attack and was in the hospital. Sometimes I wish the bastard would’ve died a long time ago. He could’ve saved many people a lot of heartache. But as we find out in this book, Casper had more to dish out. This book is beautifully written, the storylines flow seamlessly to weave the perfect picture of the McKay family we come to love and care about. Leaving you as always wanting more. I do think these get better and better! Haven’t read the series yet? You are MISSING OUT! Now if only we could get Sierra’s story :) Favorite Quotes: “Spend every waking hour that you’re not working with me.” Dalton tugged her closer by her hair. “Alls you gotta do is say the word, sugarplum, and I’ll be on my knees before you.” *ARC provided by publisher

Lorelei James knows how to tell a story. No other writer can compare. I have read this series a few times because I am always wanting more. I wish they never had to end. Unlike other authors who have 300 pages or less and charge $10, Lorelei charges less and more pages and what a story. Sorry to hear only one more book coming but I understand. I often find myself daydreaming wishing I was in Wyoming and young again. lol I'm gonna miss the McKay Family.

I absolutely LOVE and trust everything Lorelei puts out. Her writing styles from her western/cowboy to her fighter/mma is remarkably different. However, amazing at the same time. It takes a brilliant writer to be so diverse in her styles.

I read the entire series in four weeks! Dalton & Rory share a long history. More answers to a lot of background stories that were touched on during the series. Detailed & involved intimacy scenes. Don't be shy about sex!

It’s funny how we as readers find ourselves either cheering on a character or they just rub us the wrong way.  Well Dalton McKay had the latter effect on me after his less than insightful outburst in Cowboy Casanova, totally ill informed and righteous to boot.  What I wasn’t prepared for how much my heart would break for this damaged, tortured soul when faced with the physical and emotional pain he had suffered at the hands of the person who should have loved and protected from harm.   This story while one of the HOTTEST books I have read in this series is by far one of the most confronting as well.  Dalton and Aurora are explosive in their voracious passion and insatiable lust; but while Dalton is trying to prove he has grown into the man who can love her forever, Rory is protecting her heart. Make sure you have some tissues at hand when you read this one cause you’re gonna need them!!

I really enjoyed the book. It was well written and keep me interested all the way through. It is a stand alone book but some of the characters from the previous books make an appearance. It's always nice to see what they're doing. This book is for the older adult because of the sexual content.

Dalton McKay left his bride at the altar rather than marry her for the wrong reasons. Dalton hasn't been home in three years only two things will bring him home~Aurora "Rory" Wetzler and his father. Dalton knows that he's made mistakes with Rory in the past but he's trying to prove he's changed man. Rory Wetzler broke off her engagement six months ago but is willing to admit she's partly to blame for things going wrong. Rory is confronted with a mountain man with a familiar voice but doesn't recognize him only to discover that it's Dalton McKay. No man ever made Rory's blood run hot and cold at the same time. Rory is surprised at how Dalton is acting towards her like he's in love. Rory doesn't know what to make of the changes in Dalton. Dalton's brothers Tell and Brandt can't understand why Dalton doesn't want any part of their father. Can Dalton prove he's changed man? Will Rory admit her feelings for Dalton? Will Tell and Brandt learn the truth? Your answers await you in Redneck Romeo. I always like Dalton and this book just proves why. Dalton, a changed man and willing to admit he's done wrong, which is common in books but sometime rare in real life. While Rory isn't among my favorite character in the series. She certainly proves that she's a strong woman in her own right. Looking forward to my next adventure in this series.

This series is absolutely fantastic. I've never disappointed with ANYTHING she has written! There are 16 books in all in the Rough Rider Series starting with the Long Hard Ride and ending with Cowboy Take Me Away. If you've never read anything by Lorelei James you really should. You have no idea what you're missing.

WONDERFUL READ! LOVE LORELEI JAMES! I have enjoyed every one of the rough riders series. And this is no exception. This story touched me more then the others have. And, again every one I read is my new Favorite. And, yes this is now my FAVORITE! I loved getting to know Dalton & Rory! And, This is the first time I have been sooooooooo mad at a character in a book (not the main 2). Can't wait for the NEXT one. I will be very sad when & if  there are no more McKay's to read about!
