Overview

Unruly Red knows she's no one's idea of a sweet old granny. But with one long-distance phone call, the fortysomething bar owner with the tattoos and tight jeans is suddenly responsible for two young grandchildren she hardly knows.

Red's rowdy friends, late-night lifestyle and tiny apartment above her San Antonio saloon definitely aren't kidproof. And Red's pretty sure the hot young fiddle player she's been dallying with will run for the hills when he learns she has a daughter, let alone grandkids.

But Red is about to learn that age doesn't necessarily come with wisdom. That a nine-year-old girl can be as exacting as the strictest parent. That the school of hard knocks never had bake sales. And that her boy toy is more of an adult than she is.

    Wow!

This is an engrossing novel. It is not only funny and endearing, but also a tearjerker - in the best sense. I have read this book many times and will continue to do so.

    Another Winner by Pamela Morsi!

USA Today bestselling author Pamela Morsi has written another winner in RED'S HOT HONKY-TONK BAR released by MIRA books in July.

Red Cullens, the heroine, is a fortysomething owner of a bar in downtown San Antonio. The hero, Cam, short for Campbell Smith Early, is a fiddle player and quite a few years younger than Red. At first glance, the reader may think this is just another story about a woman who finds herself in the "empty nest" and goes wild - buys a bar and gets a young stud. But then, this is a book by Pam Morsi.

Red finds out she'll have to take care of grandchildren. She has a daughter serving in Iraq. Red also goes from thinking Cam is just a fiddle player to finding out he has his own house and has depths she never dreamed of.

RED'S HOT HONKY-TONK BAR will make the reader laugh, especially the "cupcake" scene. Who knew there were so many kinds of cupcakes? This book will also make the reader cry and then smile. Red is a fully developed character even if she just wants to be a bar owner and doesn't want to be vulnerable to a man ever again, but fate has other ideas. The reader can feel the heroine's emotions as she tries to fight her destiny.

Morsi writes great heroes, be they 20 years old or 80 years old. Cam is sensitive, but not a pushover. He helps Red, but doesn't overwhelm her.

The city of San Antonio is also a character in this book - the San Antonio River, the construction always going on downtown, the Mexican food and the music. The aromas and the sounds of San Antonio come alive in the book along with the characters.

Go out and get a copy of RED'S HOT HONKY-TONK BAR. You'll be glad you did.

    I Also Recommend:

    AWESOME BOOK!

I discovered Pamela Morsi's books a few years ago, have read several of them & loved each one. Red's Hot Honky-Tonk Bar was no exception. In fact, it's my favorite book of Pamela's so far. It was such an easy read...hard to put down. I promise you're going to love Red. She was living her life, doing her own thing until she had two grandchildren she barely new thrust temporarily into her care. Red also has a younger man in her life. You'll have to read the book to see how things turn out. This is a must read!

    passionate strong contemporary.

In San Antonio forty-six years old Red Cullen, owner of Red's Hot Honky-Tonk Bar, has no belief that she is capable of taking care of young children. So when her daughter Bridge calls explaining she is being deployed to Iraq, Red needs to care for her two grandchildren nine year old Olivia and six year old David. Bridge further explains her former mother-in-law is incapacitated by a stroke end ex husband Mike is in Korea serving in the military, making Red look responsible and compassionate leave.

Red is appalled that she is stuck with the brats for a few months; for that matter Olivia and David are just as ill having to spend time with their tattooed grandma. However Red's musician boyfriend Cam Early is not just delighted he provides the kids and granny his home for use and enchants the youngsters. Red is stunned that she is having fun with little kids and that she is considering keeping the younger fiddler permanently instead of her usual kick them to the curb though a bake sale seems a bit too much to ask of her.

Red makes this an interesting family drama as she is suddenly thrust into caring for her grandchildren though she feels incapable of performing the deed; a sort of female Uncle Buck. The support cast especially the kids and cam seem genuine and hence the deep look at a middle age vulnerable adult whose image is that of a tough broad but Olivia, David and Cam prove otherwise. They turn RED'S HOT HONKY-TONK BAR into a passionate strong contemporary.
