Overview

This book reveals the writings skills that were hidden for years inside a
wise and busy ophthalmic surgeon. These short entertaining articles are
grouped into specific vision-related areas. Five articles explain some
fascinating aspects of Color. Five articles deal with Blindness issues.
Some weird individual topics come up that concern things from Fish-hooks to
Broadway shows to Dr. Seuss. Each one is spellbinding.

At Hamilton College the author wrote award winning essays. As a University
of Pennsylvania trained physician
Dr. FitzGerald eventually became caught up during the Vietnam era as an Air
Force Chief of Ophthalmology and Flight Surgeon. Subsequently, living and
practicing in a rural corner of western New England, he was unfortunately
exposed to years of reading dreary medical journals and patient records
hoping that someday he would get another chance to enjoy his passion for
decent writing.

Then, having just cut back his clinical practice, he received an unexpected
call from patient! "How would you like to become a feature columnist for my
new regional newspaper?" The rest was easy. Since then, the
awards have started to return and the smile on his face is much broader.
