A must read if you are becoming a police officer or are one now.

Reflections From The Shield, By Wayne E. Beyea The author kept me glued to the book and with each chapter finished I found that I could not stop from starting the next one. The author speaks from real experience of being a police Investigator. I am still a working investigator in 2007 and what Wayne Beyea wrote worked for him back then, is still working for me today in law enforcement. Some of the author¿s techniques of interviewing still hold true today. My son is on the road to becoming a police officer and within the 1st few chapters of¿ Reflections From The Shield ¿I new it was a, must read, for him too!! The author takes you from the 1st steps of thinking about being a New York State Trooper, his fears and hopes of becoming a trooper in uniformed patrol. Author Wayne E. Beyea gives you some insight as to how being a police officer / trooper effects him and his family¿s personal life, the sacrifices that he and his family endure. You will also see what satisfaction is gained by being a police officer / New York State Trooper in this book and you will also see that the author has written about the injustices in law enforcement and how sometimes crimes go unpunished. Wayne E. Beyea and another great author / New York State Trooper John H. Braint 'ret' have caught my attention, I would have liked to have known them and worked along side of them. Both men appear to have been real Cop¿s, cop. Can¿t wait to read Wayne e. Beyea and John H. Braint¿s next book , both authors books in front of me now and I¿m not sure which one to pick up 1st .

    Excellent!

I also served with the NYSP from 1/62 until 9/85 retiring as a First Sergeant. The book is an accurate portrayal of life on the job during the period of the authors service. It does justice to an outstanding police agency that is seldom the subject of a book.

    Outstanding Autobiography!

Once I picked up Reflections From The Shield I knew I better give notice to my family that dinners might be late and household duties would probably be put on hold...because I just couldn't put this book down! Mr. Beyea invites the reader into his life...making this book come alive with action, intrigue, humor, and the human touch...real life stuff! I felt like I was 'right there,' personally involved in these criminal sketches, humourous insights, physical challenges, and the myriad of situations that this book uncovers. Also, each chapter of this book is able to pretty much stand alone, which made it easy for me to say to someone...'Here, you just HAVE to read this chapter,' without me having to give up the book for longer than I was willing to be without it! I am very enthused about getting the follow-up book by Mr. Beyea! I definitely give this book a 5 star rating!

AZ & NY Avid Reader Comments on Reflections From The Shield

I was most privileged to obtain Reflections From The Shield. I have just completed my reading of this Outstanding Autobiography Authored By Mr. Wayne Beyea. It consists of 533 pages and holds your interest from Page 1 to the end. Author Beyea takes you on a journey that includes his Outstanding Career with the New York State Troopers. As Uniform Trooper, Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Investigator and as a Supervising Senior Investigator with the Elite BCI of this Outstanding Law Enforcement Organization. Author Beyea is not a bashful gentleman. He puts the reader face to face with the exciting case complainants and pursues numerous investigations with excellent results. The cases run the gauntlet from Fraud to Murder(Homicide.)Retd Senior Inv.Beyea is diligent in his investigative ability in solving some difficult cases. He doesn't take a lot of guff from upper management, but surges ahead, sometimes alone and sometimes with his investigator associates. He constantly performs his duties above and beyond the call of duty. He aids many of the citizens of his assigned patrol district and is highly respected in his position of a law enforcement official. He is relentless in his pursuits to bring the violator to justice, but carries on his duties with dignity and as a gentleman. His love for his family is always there. I recommend this wonderful book for all able readers. It tells the facts, it will enlighten the public to some of the underhanded dynamics that take place in any organization in our society today. Anyone entering a law enforcement career should consider this book a MUST read. Author Beyea I salute you for this OUTSTANDING WORK.
