The United States has long been considered a deadly foe by the inhabitants of its ever-expanding "spheres of influence." In Reflections on the Justice of Roosting Chickens, Churchill examines the toll U.S. policies have taken on civilians around the world and the role activists are (or aren’t) playing to stop the carnage. The Western world was stunned to wake up on 9-11 to find that the Third World had "pushed back." By ignoring the suffering and loss of life of their victims while grieving over our own, Amercans have made themselves complicit in their government’s global slaughter. In a heartwrenching recount, Churchill reminds us of the untold millions who have perished as a result of U.S. military intervention (in either a physical, diplomatic or economic sense) in Iraq, Cambodia, Palestine, East Timor, the Americas . . . and the list goes on.

Meet the Author

Ward Churchill (Keetoowah Cherokee) is professor of American Indian Studies and chair of the Department of Ethnic Studies at the University of Colorado/Boulder. A member of the leadership council of Colorado AIM, he is a past national spokesperson for the Leonard Peltier Defense Committee. A prolific writer and lecturer, he has authored, co-authored or edited more than 20 books.

    Another Liberal Cry-Baby

    Like all Liberals and self annointed elitist Churchhill bristles when confronted with facts. This book is nothing but hearsay and third party references. It's good only for kindling in the fire place.

    hes not smart

    you could almost tell that this professor only wrote this book because he knows it would sell. He is only capitalizing on the american peoples anger for 9/11. Dont buy his books, he not too bright. If you yourself are smart and if you are able to make decisions on your own you will easily see right through his exaggerations. He doesnt even back them up with facts only other peoples opinions.

    To Battle in the Realm of Ideas

    Ward Churchill is a powerful and well researched voice of the violence and oppression rooted in the US Government and its wars of conquest, both domestic and international. His books should be widely read and discussed by everyone who thinks critically and wants to get to the heart of US society. The current campaigns, in the media and the 1984-like fascist fringe need to be countered by all who hate oppression, all who believe in civil liberties and anyone who thinks speaking your mind is NOT a crime. I might not agree with eveything the author says, but taking what he says out of context and trying to blacklist him with the fanatical help of brownshirts to silence him and all others is a step towards a fascist state. It is in this context, of the struggle for two possible futures that we must fight for another possible world, a world where the people would be cherished for their unique ideas and talents not be lynched out of teaching and speaking for them.
