While I absolutely enjoyed the first books in this series, I felt betrayed by the change in writing style. The other books wrapped up the story quite nicely while this one just leaves you totally hanging. Not to mention Mina gave me whiplash with her bouning feelings between Brody and Teague/Jared. I really expected this to be the last book in the series by the synopsis and was blown away by the abrupt cut off. I don't normally mind a good cliffhangar, but this one made me want to scream. I will still recommend it for my kids however because it stays on the clean side.

This series just keeps getting better. I was emediatly sucked in emotionally, and could hardly put the book down. Even as i could see the direction the story was going i was still quite litterally hanging on to the edge of my seat. Thank you Chandra hahn for another amazing "story"

Chanda Hann is amazing. I have LOVED all of her books. They may be YA but adults can enjoy them too. The characters are awesome, even those you love to hate. The story is compelling, frustrating, fun and so much more!

Love this book! It was so so so good! I do have a few problems though. For one, the writing style changed. It didn't make the book feel as whole as the others in the series. Also, I didn't feel as close to Mina like in the other books. She wasn't exactly like her old self and neither were the other characters. I noticed this right off the bat. This might be due to the writing style change. I do, however like where this series is going. It was totally unexpecting! For the most part, a lot of questions are answered about the history of Teague (Ahhh!!) and the Grimms. I love Teague, oh my goodness, but I miss Jared a ton. Even the past (or actual - for those who have already read it) Teague isn't quite like him, but I'm not sure if it's because of the writing style changing or what. CANNOT wait til June!!! It left on a pretty large cliff hanger! Ahhhhhh Would totally recommend it.

I get that the whole point of the story was that the timeline was messed up but it felt too messy so the logic seemed off.

Ugh! Why is June so faraway?!?!?!?!?

I hope mina breaks the curse AND ends up with Jared. Brody is nice but they should just be friends. :) I wish Mina and Jared a happy ending :)

I read this book in a couple hours, i wish it had been longer story BUT it was still good. The one think i didnt like is the main character. She can be really annoying and frustrating.....,,very whiny and fickle.... she loves Brady one minute then Jared then Brady. I mean come on, im tired of this triangle....! The only thing I liked is that the story comes full circle and it is explained in such interesting way. We find out why Tague is evil and most of our questions are answered. Please Chanda make Mina grow up and be loyal. it seems she likes toying with feelings...

I waited awhile to read this since I wanted to be able to finish the series at once. I was so addicted to the first three I didn't want to be left hanging between 4-5

Thus far this one was my favorite. The author took her time telling the story. Some parts were rushed, but the story got its justice finally here. I did not like that the author forgot some of her own details from previous books, such as the mirror room+Jared, Fae can't lie, the brothers names, and the number of princesses during scenes in the book. The editing again! It's about as good as book 3. I'm fine with the cliffhanger as I've read several that have done that, but the ending felt rushed. I can see where the story is going, been able to predict most things in this series. But it's still good and keeps my interest. I'm sad that there's one more. I felt like it could have been drawn out more. Maybe could have added a couple between 2 and 3. Put in more fairy tales. I still like the concept of the story as its a unique spin that I haven't seen in the modern spin on fairy tales. Hopefully the ending will be satisfying.

Reviewed by Chris Fischer for Readers' Favorite Reign: An Unfortunate Fairy Tale, Book 4 by Chandra Hahn finds young Mina, our protagonist, again in a precarious spot. She needs to cross the Fae Plane to rescue The Grimms, who are fading from existence, and she especially needs her ancestor to survive. Her very life depends upon on it. With the help of magical glass shoes, and unfortunately missing the country club ball back home, Mina must depend on her friends, both fae and human, to hone her skills and fulfill her quest. Of course, this book has romantic complications as well. While sweet Brody is always there for her, Mina mourns the loss of her beloved Jared. That is, until she finds a flicker of him in a very unexpected place. Several of my students convinced me to read this series, and I’m glad I gave it a chance. This is a wonderfully inventive series for the young adult reader, and may appeal specially to young women as the stories each revisit a familiar fairy tale. (Can you guess which one Reign is related to?) This book was easy to read and there was enough excitement and intrigue to keep the book moving along at a great pace. I appreciate that Mina is a strong female character, full of promise and able to take care of herself when she needs to. Chandra Hahn has a gift of making characters seem real in even the most fantastical settings, and the emotions they evoke pull at the reader's heartstrings. I can whole-heartedly recommend Reign: An Unfortunate Fairy Tale, Book 4 and hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Okay here are the two best complements I can give book and the series are as follows. First, Mina is a believable teenager. She's neither too adult or child like. Second, the main villian in the series is not a likeable person at all. The kind of person who is so mean, conniving, and unstable that you can't wait to see how our heroine defeats him. Then, this book comes along and you find out how he become so evil and your heart just breaks for him. How did you manage to do that Chanda?!!
