Overview

An illuminating guide to one of the fastest-growing spiritual healing practices in the world and an essential tool for anyone ready to bring healing into his or her life.

Perhaps the gentlest healing therapy in the world, Reiki originated in early twentieth-century Japan. In this indispensable guide to Reiki, one of the foremost experts traces the origin and development of the practice, detailing how and why it restores and renews the human body in ways we've only begun to understand.

A pioneer in bringing Reiki into mainstream medical practice, Miles draws on her unique background to explain how this therapeutic technique, which involves a gentle laying on of the hands, complements conventional medical treatments and can hasten recovery from invasive surgical procedures, as well as ease the symptoms of cancer, insomnia, depression, anxiety, and other conditions. With compassion, wisdom, and the accumulated experience that comes from nearly twenty years as a Reiki practitioner, Pamela Miles empowers readers by showing how simple it is to take.

    Inspirational

This book sang to me! I had been interested in Reiki for years but never found anything that gave me an understanding of what it was or if it was something I would be interested in. After reading this book, I was motivated enough to get a Reiki session and really enjoyed it! But more importantly it motivated me to find a good teacher and start my path on learning Reiki. It really has been life changing!!

Best book for long time and new Reiki students and practitioners

I have practiced Reiki since 1991, and have longed for the kind of guide that would boost me in harried times. Finally, everything I need is in Miles' book. It's not flaky, the stories are backed by firm research, and clearly the author's strong conviction and immersion in the field, shine on every page--it's like having the gentle and powerful experience of Reiki itself. I found the story of Reiki (chapter 3) fascinating, and also of particular interest to me was the exciting promise for the future of reiki at the end of the book. Read it slowly and savor its riches--and enjoy Reiki.

Everybody Needs to Know What's In This Book

Reiki: A Comprehensive Guide is exactly that -- comprehensive, lucid and enlightening. For Reiki practitioners, it is a handy refresher course, especially the appendix on Reiki Self-Treatment. Pamela Miles makes no false claims for Reiki as a system of healing, but she does explain what it is and how it can help people live more stress-free lives. My only worry is that people who don't know about Reiki and don't know what they are missing won't read it.
