Simple, Yet Effective, Information and Advice

As a devotee of self help books, I have read quite a few and this is one of the best. The book is written in plain english and lays out common sense, yet detailed, explanations for some destructive thought patterns. The solutions offered, by no means fool proof, enable the reader try to interrupt the behavior that is causing their anxiety, depression, etc.

They show factors that contributed to the dependence on these coping behaviors as a child, show how what worked for you then may be sabatoging you now. They caution how to recongnise people and situations that will be attractive but unhealty for you becasue they mirror relationships you had as a child. They tell you how these lifetraps may screw you up when you bumble into a safe relationship with a sane and loving person, and most importantly, they come up with guidelines on how to recognize these self defeating behaviors and fix them. What more could you want from a paperback book! I recommend this to any one who faces the emotional challanges of self sabatoge, but most especially to Adult Children of Alcoholics. I don't even think the authors intended to write a book for children of alcoholics, but it is the best t
