Over the years (i'll turn 90 this year) I have found that lasting relationships; whether business or personal, endure because of many of the insights that Ms. Morgan so clearly explains. As she writes, ; It is mainly being willing to let go of self criticism and focus on the other person or group. An excellent book for anyone wishing to learn more about an honest and true approach to finding more understanding and friendship with everyone with whom you come in contact
I am the President of a Not-For-Profit Wildlife Rehab Center and also work in Human Resources. I spend my life dealing with people. It may be lunch with a potential major donor from a large corporation, an on-site tour to 30 giggling 4th grade students, or an interview with a candidate looking for a job. I have learned that each of these encounters is equally significant and important for different reasons. But I have been doing this for many years and am completely comfortable in these social situations. That said, I still learned some valuable techniques from this book. Some of it was a bit repetitive for me, but then, I am not exactly the target audience! If you are either: in Business, in Human Resources, Public Speaking, or really, any aspect of life that deals with human contact, I'll bet you can learn some valuable guidelines from this book! I found it to be an easy read, sprinkled with humor and real life scenarios; not at all "text book" or tedious. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to be more at ease in any social situation, be it for building business relationships or just for enhancing your life.
This manual provides an empowering set of tools for building successful relationships both professionally and personally, and in any type of situation. I have learned that being a "people person" is not necessarily something that just "some people" are born with - but that creating positive and meaningful connections with people truly is a skill that requires practice. I found the manual format to be fun and enjoyable to read with lots of personal antidotes and real world scenarios. The best part is that the tools she provides are practical and accessible and can be implemented right away! This manual is a powerful reminder that happiness and success in life is ultimately all about the relationships we form and foster!
