Publicado por entregas en El Espectador de Bogotá en 1955 y más tarde en libro (en 1970), no una novela, sino un reportaje periodístico que da cuenta de un suceso real.

Con impecable técnica literaria y profesional estilo noticioso, García Márquez relata un suceso acaecido a un marinero de la armada colombiana llamado Luis Alejandro Velasco. La historia, reconstruida minuciosamente por el escritor sudamericano en primera persona a partir del testimonio del protagonista, fue tácticamente atribuida a éste en la prensa y sólo legitimada tras el formidable éxito de Cien años de soledad.

Gabriel García Márquez
Gabriel García Márquez, nacido en Colombia, fue una de las figuras más importantes e influyentes de la literatura universal. Ganador del Premio Nobel de Literatura, fue además cuentista, ensayista, crítico cinematográfico, autor de guiones y, sobre todo, intelectual comprometido con los grandes problemas de nuestro tiempo, en primer término con los que afectaban a su amada Colombia y a Hispanoamérica en general. Máxima figura del realismo mágico, fue en definitiva el hacedor de uno de los mundos narrativos más densos de significados que ha dado la lengua española en el siglo xx. Entre sus obras más importantes se encuentran las novelas Cien años de soledad, El coronel no tiene quien le escriba, Crónica de una muerte anunciada, La mala hora, El general en su laberinto, El amor en los tiempos del cólera, Memoria de mis putas tristes, el libro de relatos Doce cuentos peregrinos, la primera parte de su autobiografía, Vivir para contarla, y sus discursos reunidos, Yo no vengo a decir un discurso. Falleció en 2014.

    La recomiendo

    El autor dice que es una historia verídica. La calidad del autor es tal que te envuelve en el relato y hace que el lector se sienta ser el naufrago. La recomiendo.

    Great book. Tremendo libro. But the typist does not spell very w

    Great book. Tremendo libro. But the typist does not spell very well. Pero el mecanógrafo no sabe deletrear muy bien. Accents are in the wrong place in many words. La tilde está mal puesta en muchas palabras. NOOK PEOPLE, get someone who can type correctly. GENTE DE NOOK, consiga alguien que sepa escribir a máquina correctamente.
