INTRIGUE, ROMANCE, HORSES

RELENTLESS supports horse rescues around the world one book at a time. With every purchase a donation will be sent on your behalf to help with their mission of rescue, rehabilitation and education. Let's end HORSE SLAUGHTER once and for all.

“A galloping good read. [Relentless] will keep you breathless right to the end.”—Jenny Edwards, Founder and Director, Hope for Horses

Overview:

Headstrong horse rescue director Bren Ryan has been a redheaded streak of trouble for more than one man in Clear Spring. She’s grown up needling local “kill buyer” Wes Connelly, and since the sheriff ruled her husband’s sudden death an accident, Bren’s been investigating things herself. She’s certain Tom was murdered, and she’s hell-bent on cornering his killer the only way she knows how—by tempting him to do it again. And she’s the bait.

Rafe Langston came to Maryland looking for land and a fresh start. Or so he says. The sexy cowboy isn’t generous with details, but Bren couldn’t care less—until he buys half her farm at auction and moves into her childhood home. Suddenly, the last man she should befriend becomes her only ally in solving her husband’s murder.

Soon their cozy stakeouts sizzle with unexpected desire neither one can ignore, threatening his mysterious plans and her promise to never fall in love again—especially with a handsome stranger whose secrets could shatter what family she has left.

“RELENTLESS will take readers on a rollercoaster ride and keep you guessing on several fronts. Highly recommended and a fantastic read!” —Monica Solomon, The Romance Readers Connection, 4½ Stars

“Captivating! Mysterious and visceral, RELENTLESS is a colorful literary fiction that chronicles the vivid life challenges of a dedicated mother and horse rescuer in a world that measures the value of life by the weight on the end of a meat hook.” —Katia Louise, President and Founder, Wild for Life Foundation, Lifetime Equine Refuge, State of California, Director, Producer

Alex Brown
"[Relentless] is an enthralling read, with twists and turns that keep you in suspense. O'Dwyer has crafted a wonderful story that takes you from the countryside of Maryland to the drug wars of Mexico, all because of the love of the horse. Her research for her subject matter is exceptional in this wonderful tale.''--Alex Brown, author of Greatness and Goodness: Barbaro and His Legacy
All Books Review - Cindy Taylor
“O’Dwyer is a master at putting emotion to paper and making it convincing. RELENTLESS is high intensity at its best. It gives the heart a workout in every possible way—suspense that has it pounding nonstop, romance that has it thumping, and frustration, anger, and deep sorrow that holds it clenched in a vise. I could not put it down!”

Meet the Author

Born in Washington, D.C., and the oldest of five children, P.J. O'Dwyer was labeled the storyteller of the family and often accused of embellishing the truth. Her excuse? It made for a more interesting story. The proof was the laughter she received following her version of events.

After graduating high school in the suburbs of Maryland, the faint urgings of her imaginative voice that said "you should write" were ignored. She opted to travel the world instead. Landing a job in the affluent business district of Bethesda, Maryland, as a travel counselor, she traveled frequently to such places as Hawaii, Bahamas, Paris, New Orleans, the Alaskan Inland Passsage, and the Caribbean Islands.

Today, P.J. lives in western Howard County, Maryland, with her husband Mark, teenage daughter Katie, and their cat Scoot and German Shepherd FeFe in a farmhouse they built in 1998.

P.J.'s learning it takes a village to create a writer and relieved to know she's not in this alone. She's an active member of Romance Writers of America. Also participates in a critique group, which has been an invaluable experience with many friendships made and an abundance of helpful praise, and, yes, criticism. But it's all good. Improving her craft is an ongoing process.

Writing is a passion that runs a close second to her family. When she's not writing, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, fits in her daily run with her husband Mark, and tries heroically to keep up with her daughter Katie's social life. Who knew how demanding the life of a teenager could be, especially for Mom?

When asked where she gets her ideas for her stories, she laughs ruefully and says, "It helps being married to a cop." Actually, she admits, "Every day I find a wealth of possible stories and plots in the most unsuspecting place--my daily life."

- P.J. O'Dwyer

    Relentless is a Riveting Read

I thoroughly enjoyed RELENTLESS. The story stayed with me when I put the book down. There were several elements that made RELENTLESS a fabulous read. First, it’s a love story focused on the horse world. As a horse lover, any novel involving horses catches my attention. As a horse rescue operator, having Bren, the heroine, involved with rescue and fighting the dirty secret—horse slaughter—well, that’s an important subject too often swept under the rug.

    P. J. O’Dwyer tackles the horror and heartache of slaughter, hopefully bringing attention to a cruelty that needs to be stopped. Finally, as an avid reader, I found RELENTLESS to be well-written with surprising twists and turns. The action kept me riveted and surprised. I’m truly looking forward to the rest of the Fallon Sisters Trilogy.

When Tom Ryan was murdered, his wife Bren was relentless in the pursuit of his killer, to the point she thinks that the man that stole her horse and sent it to the slaughter house is guilty of murder. Now, wild horses are being rounded up and sent to the same Mexican slaughterhouse. When Bren is kidnapped by her husband's murderer, will the new love of her life, arrive in time to save her?

Sometimes the least expected enemy can be a friend and a friend becomes a cold blooded killer.

“RELENTLESS is a page burner of a murder mystery with an unlikely heroine, staged in a quiet little piece of animal welfare that is very near and dear to my heart. Bren is a strong-willed, feisty redhead whose #1 life passion is saving, rescuing, and rehoming horses in need, until the day her husband is murdered.

“Even with her heart, her mind, and her time largely consumed with finding Tom’s murderer, Bren continues with their life’s work of Grace Equine Sanctuary . . . and that mixture of unending dedication leads to a ‘never saw that coming’ finish you won’t want to miss.

“While clearly a fictional tale, O’Dwyer’s depiction of certain elements of the underbelly of the equine world is accurate and eye opening to those horse lovers who may have little or no idea of the dark realities.”

“RELENTLESS perfectly describes the heroine in this novel. Bren’s passion, determination, and dedication are qualities anyone involved in horse rescue can relate to. The imagery surrounding the conditions and processes of a slaughter house, coupled with the suffering of both the horses and Bren, are powerful and riveting themes the author perfectly intertwines. This book had my full attention from the first to the last page. Real life issues close to my heart, along with romance, mystery, and common, everyday struggles left me wanting more and more! This is a must-read book for all avid horse lovers and the champions who work tirelessly to improve conditions for all horses!”

“Thanks to Ms. O’Dwyer for having a horse rescue advocate as her heroine in RELENTLESS. In 2007 the Unwanted Horse Coalition estimated that there were approximately 170,000 unwanted horses in the United States. Building awareness of this issue is so important for those of us working for the horses. Thanks so much for making it an enjoyable read as well!”

“Lovers of horses, mystery and romance rolled into one intriguing package will want to place Relentless at the top of their must-read list for 2012! O’Dwyer’s vivid writing hooks the reader in for the ride, but beyond that illuminates the urgent issues surrounding wild horses, slaughter and horse rescue. This book is a many-sided gem you won’t want to miss!” ~ Carol M. Upton, Co-founder Sunshine Coast School of Writing
