Martin E. Marty, author of over 40 books, is Fairfax M. Cone Distinguished Service Professor of the History of Modern Christianity, University of Chicago, and senior editor of The Christian Century. With Scott Appleby, he coedits the multi-volume series on global fundamentalisms. R. Scott Appleby is Director, Cushwa Center for the Study of American Catholicism, University of Notre Dame, and author of four books on modern religion.
