Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Carlee Hallman
In this book, many of the old nursery rhymes are reproduced within a simple border and with nice line drawings. The introduction states that the singing and reading of nursery rhymes has "been proven to help improve the development of children's language and reading ability, as well as their memory, vocabulary, and communication skills." From "Peter, Peter, Pumpkin Eater" on page 10 to "Doctor Foster" on page 123, old favorites make their appearance. "Three Children Sliding," "The Lion and the Unicorn," and "Whistle" are a few that I found unfamiliar. Others such as: "London Bridge Is Falling Down," "This Is the House That Jack Built," and "Three Little Kittens" were nostalgic for me. Why would one buy this book, since for a slightly lower price one can buy The Real Mother Goose with its brightly colored illustrations? Reviewer: Carlee Hallman
