    Loved the book

I loved this book. When I saw it in a magazine, I came right to the BN website and looked it up and ordered it. The title is wonderful as "Adelia" is my name. I don't see that name often so I had to order it. I have just started quilting and doing a lot of sewing, so that was just wonderful. When I got the book I sat down and read it and I have read it cover to cover and have shared it with a friend. I have told a lot of my friends about the book. I will keep this always and it sits proudly in my sewing room for all to see.

    Diary and quilt patterns

Ms. Tracy couldn't make up her mind on whether to write a novel about the Civil War or write a book about quilting. While both are favorite subjects of mind, I was looking for a book about quilting.

18 of the 80 pages are devoted to the diary of Adelia Bennett. I love old diaries and reading about how life was during a certain time period but I would rather have had those 18 pages with quilt patterns.

The patterns are made of period fabric so they have an antique look. Of course, you could use any fabric and it would give it an updated look. The patterns are clearly written with graphics for those of us that like to have a visual help. The materials and cutting lists provide yardage and cut sizes needed.

Instructions on creating the blocks and assembling the top are provided. Some of the finishing is left up to you and some tell you how to quilt it.

There is a six page basic quilting section and a bio paragraph about the author at the back of the book.
