Meet the Author

Gina Cordell received a bachelor's and master's degree in sociology from the University of Memphis. She served as a researcher and administrator at the University of Alabama and the University of Memphis before joining the Memphis Public Library and Information Center in 2000 as the social sciences librarian in the History/Social Sciences Department. She has published articles on Memphis history and women and body image and has written and compiled a comprehensive guide to the processed manuscript collections in the Memphis and Shelby County Room. Gina lives in Memphis with her husband, Paul, and Boston terrier, Violet.


Patrick W. O'Daniel is currently a Librarian/ Specialist (Genealogy) with the History/Social Sciences Department of the Memphis Public Library. He has a master's degree in history from the University of Memphis. He studied at Samford University, and is now working toward a master's degree in information sciences from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Patrick has presented programs on creating local history and genealogy collections for public libraries at the Public Library Association Conference in Phoenix, Arizona, and the Tennessee Library Association Conference in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He has written articles for the West Tennessee Historical Society Papers in 2002 and for the Tennessee Archivist in 2006. Patrick lives in Memphis with his wife, Kathy, and daughter, Kelly.
