If you like historical fiction you will love this novel. Carl Sandburg's saga of America covers four major eras of our history: the Puritans founding of the Plymouth colony; the Revolutionary War; the Civil War; and World War Two. Sandburg makes the characters come alive as they struggle with individual life circumstances and major issues of their respective historical periods. As a reader you will be saddened by their failures and revel in their accomplishments. This is absolutely one of the best novels I have ever read.
