Remixed [Arista]

Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble
Fans of Sarah McLachlan's ethereal and mesmerizing voice should delight in this collection of eletronica-inspired remixes. Highlights include mixes of hits such as "Fear," by Welsh trio Hybrid; "Angel," by Dusted, a.k.a. Dido producer Rollo; and "Hold On," by house hit-maker BT, a.k.a. Brian Transeau. BT also transforms "I Love You" into an extended, 11-minute house epic, while William Orbit gives "Black" a haunting aura with a pulsing beat and an infusion of strings.

All Music Guide - Keir Langley
Certainly not the style of music McLachlan is known for, but Remixed is an album that will reach a new audience demographic that can at the very least appreciate her gorgeous voice, while serving as a continuing showcase for popular remixers and DJs now playing at a club near you. Once McLachlan's vocals are introduced to these generic trance-dance pieces, there's no mistaking what songs they are from, since verse and chorus are left mostly intact, perhaps due in part to senior producer Pierre Marchand rare for a single person to take a producer's credit for a remix album with multiple contributors. Each track is a polished, extended, club-ready standout, but this means of course that many of them cancel each other out when listening to the entire album at once. McLachlan's chops may not have as much range as Madonna's or certainly Björk's, but the DJs work hard to give more dynamics to her ethereal, waif-like voice, lifted from four different albums' worth of material. In this respect, her peers may have more longevity in the club/dance genre, but respect is due for a passable and brave leap into another category. Over the months and years ahead, this album might not last as well, but it sparkles in its own right, and is worth the price.

    Bringing in some flavor...

This really isnt for 'acoustic' fans by any means. These are songs more tailored to a club/dance audience. They are actually really good remixes of the songs, but if you arent into techno/dance music, you wont be able to appreciate them.

    Mindless time filler!!!

She has released some really nice albums - but this sadly ain't one of 'em!!! These mindless dance beats added to pad out the much padded catalogue until she finally got around to releasing something new - just don't hack it.

    Awesome

This CD is great for any McLachan fans or rave/club/dance music fans. You'll love it. Plenty of feelings of floating and intensity. However, it's not an import. I got mine from HMV for $16 (including tax). So, shop around! I CAN'T stop listening to this!!
