Meet the Author

In her early thirties and a born and bred Londoner, Shermaine Williams has loved reading since she was a child. She began writing relatively recently after becoming bored with the career that came after finishing university. She writes contemporary erotic romance, telling tales of characters that she hopes people can see themselves in. She gets inspiration from the most unassuming acts that people all around her don’t realise they are performing. Stories with a twist always get her attention. In addition to fiction, she also writes other pieces that are positively mundane by comparison.

Read an Excerpt

The fading sound of the traffic from the main road gave way to the rapidly echoing click of her own heels as dusk began to descend. A stroll would have been more suitable for the warm evening, but Paula had left work late and was in a hurry. Her job as an assistant to an advertising executive was a soul-destroying waste of her business degree. Though she hated it, she made no great effort to seek a new job. Partially because it had taken so long to get that job, her confidence was knocked, and partially because at home she could be a completely different person, which took the sting out of her work situation. Her alter ego could take control when she got home and, of the two, Scarlet enjoyed herself much more than Paula. Scarlet had the confidence, power and sex appeal Paula lacked. It almost made it seem necessary for her to be two different people, even though nobody knew because she was perfectly capable of keeping the two identities separate. She began working as a sex chat line operator to make extra money before she found a job, then failed to give it up once she had. It seemed unnecessary—it was easy extra money. Not that it had always been easy. In fact, initially it had been positively unnerving, but she got used to it. In a surprisingly short period, she became a convincing object of lust for many a man, adept at bringing him to climax with nothing but her voice. Telephone sex enabled her to put aside her normal timidity and be more open, creating a new character to get experiences she could never enjoy in real life. The phone calls were mostly straightforward, occasionally even mundane, as it didn’t take much to make a man come. She made them feel special, despite each being much like the last. Usually, she would take control, subtly discovering what the man wanted and providing it with feigned moans of arousal. However, one man stood out from the rest, one for whom she would rush home. Joseph.
