Meet the Author

Nikita Black is the pseudonym of bestselling author Nina Bruhns. As Nikita, she writes cutting edge erotic romance for Cajun Hot Press. As Nina, she is the award-winning author of over twenty-five novels. Nina currently writes romantic thrillers for Berkley Publishing—a division of Penguin-Putnam—and occasionally self-publishes romantic suspense and paranormal romance novels for Cajun Hot Press.

A two-time RITA nominee—the RITA is the women’s fiction equivalent of the Academy Awards—Nina’s numerous writing awards and honors have also included three Daphne du Maurier Awards for Best Overall Mystery-Suspense Book of the year, a National Readers Choice Award, five Dorothy Parker Awards of Excellence, two RT Bookclub Reviewers Choice Awards for Best Romantic Suspense of the Year, and one for Best Nocturne of the Year. Her Nikita Black novels have been winning awards for over a decade, and have regularly appeared on the ebook bestseller lists, once for a stretch of over a year at the number one spot.

Nikita's most recent release was SLAVE TO LOVE, a sizzlingly controversial thriller noir that has sparked more than one heated discussion on the reader forums. Nina’s 25th novel, RED HEAT, book 1 in her current Berkley trilogy, was released this past June. Book 2, WHITE HOT, will be published in summer 2012. She is also planning to release three new straight-to-ebook titles in the coming year.

    Amazing!

Engaging and absolutely breathtaking. In some areas the vocabulary definately doesn't pertain to the time period of the west using the *f* word but it does't take away from the careful descriptions anf lovely book. I would have liked to see her flesh the ending out more, it seemed a little dropped and i was really engaged and wanted to know wahat was going to happen next. Also, I would have liked to see how Sally adapted to the tribe in those two years at the end of the book. The only thing that confused me was Standing Bear's vision. She didn't tie it into the rest of the story. I was left feeling torn. Was it really resolved or is it aupposed to occur acter the baby is born? I feel like he vision has yet to pass but tha wasn't her intent. She should have cleared that up more. But overall lovely imagery and knowledge of native customs aand wanting to learn white customs and protect their tribe. She painted a really good picture of the conflicts the indians endured during that time. A must read!

2 stars just for making me laugh

Ridiculous dialog but I have to say this was an "entertaining" read, although probably not for the reasons the author hoped.
