Overview

As a person with an active role in ministry for Christ, readers are called to bepassionate. At times, however, the flame within flickers and goes weak. It is no coincidence that this experience is referred to as ministry burnout. It is impossible to minister to others without reclaiming the passion.

To do this, come with the disciples walking to Emmaus. Renew the energy and passion for ministry in the same way these two disciples were re-charged by their meeting with Jesus as they journeyed away from the pain they had experienced on Good Friday in Jerusalem. Allow Jesus to seek you out, listen to your story, and then challenge you to look again at your life and ministry with new eyes. Recognize Jesus, not only in the breaking of the bread, but in the broken lives that come together to make up the whole body of Christ.

In Renewing Your Ministry: Walking with Jesus in All That You Do, Joe Paprocki helps readers add fuel to the fire of their faith as they seek out ways to rejuvenate their call to ministry. With the disciples from Emmaus, return to the "Jerusalem" of your own ministry accompanied by the Risen Christ and with more passion than ever to share his good news.

Joe was a Pastoral Associate and Director of Religious Education at St. Mary of the Assumption parish on Chicago's south side from 1990 to 1997. He is the author of Tools for Teaching and the video Empowering the Catechist (both from Twenty-Third Publications) as well as You Give Them Something to Eat and two courses in the Developing Faith series for teens, all from Ave Maria Press.
