Overview

Partnership in Blood Volume 4

The war is at a fever pitch with both sides stretched to the limit, when the dark wizards score a shocking victory and capture Orlando St. Clair. Haggard with worry and grief at the separation from his lover, Alain fears that even if they find Orlando, the vampire's heart and mind may be far too broken to save.

Knowing the Alliance teeters on the brink, Christophe Lombard, the oldest, most powerful vampire in Paris leaves his self-imposed seclusion to join the fight. Alain's lost friend Eric Simonet, who betrayed him to join the dark wizards, is faced with a choice between revenge and redemption. And Jean, enraged by Orlando's capture, faces the most agonizing decision in his unlife as the final battle looms: Will their actions lead to the shattering of the Alliance or the salvation of the world?

    I Also Recommend:

Terrific ending to a great series

With Orlando still in the hands of the dark wizards, Alain desperately searches for his partner. The rest of the Milice wizards are fighting off the dark wizards,w ho have set themselves to wreaking havoc all over Paris and the surrounding areas. Meanwhile, two dark wizards ¿ Eric, who switched sides two years ago, and his friend Vincent ¿ are finally fed up with the machinations of the leader of the dark wizards, and come up with a desperate plot to try to not only save Orlando, but to themselves reach the Milice and switch sides. Will Alain find Orlando in time? How will the Milice defeat the dark wizards ¿ or will they even be able to? This is a wonderful ending to the series. I noticed that one of the lists this book can be found on is ¿Best tearjerkers with a happy ending¿ and that really does describe it quite well, overall. One thing I sort of enjoyed ¿ unlike many books of this nature, the war itself is actually finished a bit over half-way through the book, and the rest of it deals with the repercussions and reactions of the various people involved. Speaking of the series overall, it¿s a great bit of world-building, and a the plot develops wonderfully, as do the characters. I can highly recommend the Partnership in Blood series. There are two spin-off books available in the series currently: ¿A Perilous Partnership¿ and ¿Reluctant Partners,¿ which I¿ll be reviewing next weekend. Watch for it!
