Overview

Excerpt from Report by Thomas Tucker Upon the Settlement of the Revenues of Excise and Customs in Scotland

This impression has been printed from two Manuscripts. The Oldest, which appears to be in Mr Tucker's hand-writing, is said to have been purchased at a sale, many years ago, by the late Mr Gibb, librarian to the Faculty, and was presented by him to the Library, and from it the fac simile Of the sig nature has been made. The other, in a more recent hand writing and spelling, was preserved in the Charter-room at Yester. Along With both were found the Rules and Instruc tions made by the Commissioners of Customs and Excise in Scotland, dated Leith, lst September, 1656, and signed Ja. Mac-dowal, Edm. Syler, Leo. Lytcot, Tho. Tucker. They bear to be printed at Edinburgh, by Christopher Higgins, in Hart's Close, over against the Trone Church.
