Although it's been more than three decades since he was dubbed "God" by a generation of guitar maniacs, Eric Clapton still hasn't forgotten where he came from. On this no-frills disc, Clapton spends a lot of time leading listeners back to that territory, paying homage to both blues masters of the past and some of his own contemporaries. Slowhand is at his most effective when he luxuriates in those deep blues, slip-sliding through a percolating version of J. J.
