Serena Bell writes stories about how sex messes with your head, why smart people do stupid things sometimes, and how love can make it all better.Serena wrote her first steamy romance before she was old enough to understand what all the words meant and has been perfecting the art of hiding pages and screens from curious eyes ever since--a skill that's particularly useful now that she's the mother of two school-aged children. For a while, Serena took a break from penning love stories to explore the world as a journalist, where she spent time shadowing and writing about a cast of fascinating real-life characters. When she's not writing or getting her butt kicked at Scrabble by a six-year-old, she's practicing modern dance improv in the kitchen, swimming laps, talking a long walk, or reading on one of her large collection of electronic devices.

Darling "Cute Meet" short story. RESCUE ME: A VALENTINE'S DAY SHORT STORY by Serena Bell is 15 pages (minus front- and back-matter). It captures the elusive (and difficult to craft) short-story arc and does it superbly! This short story is so true to life...maybe not all of us meet the next great thing this way, but the emotional and action responses to what Molly Mack experienced that fateful Valentine's Day (Opening line: "Molly Mack was teetering on a ledge.") rang true to life. The story is written with wit, humor, sparkling dialogue, exposure of characterizations, charm, is a contemporary savvy read. The cover image doesn't really match. The description of her little red Valentines-Day dress (4 square feet of material) seemed to be a really snug fitting stretchy sheath that ended just barely at her thighs...not loose like this image. And the darling, kissable rescuer/hero was wearing a thick wool sweater in the 45-degree Boston area. These would've been simple rewrites once the "perfect" image was located to ensure they told the same story. I may be the odd-one-out in believing cover art matters THAT much, but there you have it. Sensuality level: jalapeno spicy (without actual intercourse)--after all, the window ledge doesn't lend itself to *everything* Language: PG-13 Recommended to fans of short romantic stories, fans of "cute meets," contemporary romance, and holiday shorts. ~Kristin
