Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Sandra Eichelberger
This installment in the “Rescue Princesses” series is light and enjoyable. In this book, Princess Emily introduces her younger sister, Princess Lottie, to the idea of being a Rescue Princess. Lottie then recruits other young princesses and together they plan to help animals in trouble. In The Magic Rings, the four young princesses come to the rescue of some horses, using their wits and ninja stealth. They each have rings that allow them to communicate, but first they must figure out how to get them to work. The ninja emphasis is the one thing that does not seem to completely fit in with this story of little princesses, despite them being rescue heroes. Perhaps Harrison uses it to create an exotic aura. The illustrations are simple drawings but they add an interesting visual to the story. For little girls, the idea of helping animals in distress is heart-warming and should have tremendous appeal. The language is simple and flows easily. In today’s princess-obsessed world of little girls, this should be a winner. Reviewer: Sandra Eichelberger AGERANGE: Ages 8 to 10.
