I made another great escape into the world of pulse-pounding fiction with Rescued from the Dark by Lynda Kaye Frazier. A romantic mystery-thriller that pits intrigue against survival, deception against love, gut-clenching tension against heartache, Rescued from the Dark is one not to miss. Mercy is a mega-wealthy CEO of the family’s huge corporation, but she has a secret, or two. Jason is an undercover FBI agent in the middle of a case, dangerously deep into the organization he is trying to bring down, so of course he has a secret or two, and keeping those secrets are what keeps him alive, as well as those he cares about. Mercy’s ex-fiance has secrets that involves getting Mercy back at any cost. It all comes to a dangerous and potentially heart-breaking and lethal head when these secrets are discovered, Mercy becomes a kidnap victim and a drug induced coma causes her to lose parts of her memory. In a battle against the clock, Jason will have to use every resource he has to save Mercy in more than one way, all while trying to hide his heart on his sleeve. If you’re looking for an intricately played out plot, filled with a cast of characters that are each holding a secret close to the vest and enjoy the journey through a tangle web, that puts you in-the-moment of each scene, pick this one up. Will you be able to pick out a few conclusions? Yep, but there are other twists that you’ll never see coming on your journey to that final page. Lynda Kaye Frazier has a gift for writing and it shows in this debut novel.
What a book! Hook me from the first page! The writing was very well written and a smooth read. The book holds the readers attention from the beginning all the way to the end! Twist and turns all through the book to keep the reader turning the pages until the end.
Love, Trust, Faith My 3.5 Stars Review This were a difficult read, and to be honest there were a few times I wanted to throw in the towel on this book. The multiple characters, each in its own story line kept the book busy, exhausting with no clear main character that you would find in many other books. Although the story was about the budding romance between Jason and Mercy and the kidnapping, finding the real villains the attention was not on them for the duration of the book. The story continually flipped from one character to the other so that you struggled to keep up. Leaving many gaps in the story line that left you with a frown half of the time. The characters was in my mind way too emotional for harden federal agents. We know that these men has to handle a lot of strain because of the pressure of this job. So their emotional unbalance unnerved me. Especially with all the various twists in this plot. Many scenarios were confusing at times, and I could not understand the reasoning behind them. Causing more frowns. It was only the last part of the book that I really could connect with Jason and Mercy and the love they shared. Staying alive through all the ordeals the author has set in motion and trusting that all will work out at the end of the day. Their unwavering faith in each other that rescued them from the dark. A well fitting name for the book.
Wow! What a great story. This novel has it all - antagonists who are pure evil, a complex plot with unexpected twists and turns and a very exciting and fast-paced ending. I don't normally read "romance novels", but the book's synopsis held the promise of an exciting story and I took a chance on buying it. I am certainly glad that I did. I am looking forward to more from this author.
