The Author: Professor Craig W. McLuckie was educated in Scotland and Canada. He has authored articles on African and Scottish literatures. He teaches twentieth century literatures at Okanagan University College, Canada.

This book was a pleasing interlude while we wait for McIlvanney's next novel, collection of short stories, poetry or essays. The introduction does a great job of situating McIlvanney. The bibliography points us to works we may have missed while we wait . . and wait . . . for the great man's next book.
