Overview

Abby Bartlett is the quintessential nice girl. Between teaching, volunteering, completing her PhD, and helping her best friend raise his daughter, Abby never gets the chance to be anything but nice. That is, until the all-wrong-for-her man she's only ever known from afar starts daring her to simply take that chance for herself. His sage advice? Try something wild and fast.

Preferably him.

An unbridled, hotshot attorney with a not-so-little black book, Connor Sullivan has earned himself quite the bad boy reputation. But in his defense, he's a very conscientious one. He knows far too well that sometimes in life, love isn't enough . . . or worse, not even a factor at all. To avoid that misery—and repel the drama—Connor always makes his one and only rule crystal clear right from the start. Absolutely nothing more than a month.

Turns out, a whole lot can happen in one month.

As an unpologetic book aholic, I'm always on the prowl for new authors. Violet Duke get's two huge thumbs (and all my fingers plus toes) up for Abby and Duke's story. Just knowing it is the first of what will be many, many, many (PLEASE!) more stories to head my way makes me as happy as savoring my favorite dark chocolate. The dialog will keep you in stitches with heart warming humor. The characters are well defined. Note I'm not telling you about the story line, because just like biting into a lovely dark chocolate, only to find the most amazing and unexpected filling, this is a book worth the discovery. A new fav author!

Wow! This was such a good book! Super fun and sexy. I loved hot, secretly sensitive Connor and strong, feisty Abby. Their chemistry made for some intense scenes. There were parts in this book that had me laughing so hard while others had me close to tears. This was a well written storyline with fresh, witty dialog and an ending I just swooned over. Can't wait for the sequel!

Wow! Talk about nailing it first time out of the chute. Violet Duke's Resisting the Bad Boy placed her solidly on my list of auto-buy authors. She engages you in the first paragraph and never lets your attention stray. Her characters are lively, fun, and snappy with their banter. I found myself smiling, chuckling, and laughing out loud throughout the book. The only thing I like more in my choice of reading material is a hot, sexy scene and she deftly fills the pages with plenty of those as well. She gives us an incredibly romantic story about Connor, an emotionally shut-off bad boy who is revealed to be a good, self-sacrificing man by Abby, the good girl who brings it all out when she shows him real affection without an ulterior motive. These two well-written characters are great together and have smokin’ hot chemistry. I could offer details of so many scenes to illustrate my views but I don’t want to spoil your chance to read and enjoy it for yourself just as I did. Twice. Now I’m just waiting for the second book in this wonderful series to come out!! But in the meantime, buy this fantastic read by new author Violet Duke. You won’t be sorry!

If you don't want spoilers, please skip this review. Can someone please explain to me why this book go so many rave reviews??  I didn't realize that this was going to be a series.  I really enjoyed the book until I got to the end where Connor walks away after realizing he is in love with her in order to give his brother a shot.  REALLY???  REALLY???  Are you f-n kidding me right now?  I actually liked the character of Abby until I saw the summary of the second book - she actually hooks up with Brian after screwing (and falling in love with, I guess) his brother?  Grrrr.  This is total BS.  I will not be purchasing the rest of these books.  I am so pi$$ed off that I wasted by time reading this book.

I am pretty open minded when it comes to fiction, however I found myself constantly questioning - not judging- how the elephant in the room could be so easily ignored. THEY ARE BROTHERS???? I read the first two and will read the next because the storyline has captured my interest. The books are well written but for love this strong with no animosity from either brother and not even a little moral checking from all 3 of these "good" people, I had a hard time buying it. I am hoping Ms. Duke will clear this up for me in book 3. Either way, well worth my money and time. These books would actually be a great book club selection for the debate alone. CEB...

Good book, easy read, it was slightly more of a smut book than I was wanting, yet it was a good story line. 1 of 3 in the series. I may now have to read the rest of the series to find out what happens!

I LIKE THIS BOOK, BUT I HAD ALREADY READ THIS BOOK, THIS ONE IS A SHORT VERSION AND IT LEAVES A LOT OF THINGS OUT.

I really liked this book. Lots of funny stuff, and oh my...Connor. LOVED him! I actually thought all of the characters were well written, and Abby is just fantastic and such a sweetheart. The story pulls you in-I read it straight through in one sitting-and flows nicely. There were a couple of grammar/editing errors, but not really noticeable (I'm just one of those readers who always picks up on those, no matter what). I knew going into it that it was a serial, so the cliffhanger at the end didn't bug me so much...but wow, it's kind of a doozie. Thankfully I already have the whole series so I was able to just start the next book immediately. I can't wait to find out where it goes...

I loved this book! The writing was wonderful and the story was real and believable. Conner is a bad boy who doesn't do relationships and Abby is funny and sexy and sure of herself. They meet, again, and they have instant chemistry. The dialog is so great that you laugh out loud and you really connect with the characters. It's not the same old story of boy meets girl, they fall in love, he messes it up then begs her to come back and HEA. Nope. But it's a must read!

This book was great and I can't wait to read the rest of the series. And the author herself is an amazing person, who I am happy to support.

There is much to enjoy about the book that I'm sure I'll forget something. Duke has a way of developing fun characters whose speaking generally feels true-to-life and whom I can become attached to when falling into her series. She does all of this with flawless formatting, grammar, etc. and the combination makes for a fast, easy reading experience. The story itself left me wanting more an I'm relieved that there is in fact, more as I am off to check it out! Personally, I enjoy the drama of it all and I cannot help but appreciate the not-so-subtle reminder of the way one illness can destroy so many lives. Brilliant, Ms. Duke! Thank you.

This booj may havebeen okay, but itispart of series, all the books are a little over100 pages. There ate only threeif them. Why not consolidate into one book? Each book is $3.99. But the first, it is free. $8.00 isalotof money for about a 300 page cliff hanger with a very unsatisfactory ending. In case the is a book four, I guess. The editing for this book was okay. Once again, a parent dies. Once again another love is easy to find.this book is cheesy, sappyl sentimental drivel. The ending sucked lemons. The over view almost seemes to be refering to a different book. I did like the niece. She was as cute kid. I find it hard to recommend this book. It really does not have much to offer. Except an empty purse. Adults. AD
