This was worth every penny and a lot more to boot. It's full of action, full of ideas, and full of heart. I have to admit I started out disliking the main character, Resonance, but she grew on me over the course of the book, and as you find out more about her, and why she is the way she is, irritation with her apparent selfishness turns to sympathy and empathy for the kind of life she was 'fated' to live. There are also some great supporting characters, including Spider and Quinn, both of whom I liked very much.
This is the author's first book but I was amazed at the deft way she handled both the story and the language. There's some very fine writing here. Do be aware, though, that there are some graphic passages. It's not a love story.

If I hadn't been a fan of Avery Debow's I wouldn't have read this novel. You see it is a vast departure from the type of story I normally read. But I've had the pleasure of glimpsing this authors talent for quite some time so I decided to take a chance. And I was not disappointed.
The writing is superb. The characters artfully rendered. Ten pages in I'd forgotten all about genre. I was vested in these characters lives, particularity the novel's namesake Resonance Murphy. A bad girl of first order, Resonance pulled me as a reader along on her thrill ride of self discovery and enlightenment. She is a kick ass heroine with flaws a plenty but I dare any reader not to cheer for her to overcome the plethora of supernatural critters standing in her way.
It is truly a great novel and talented author that can transcend genre and offer a great reading experience for readers. Resonance and Avery Debow fit the bill.
