When he calls it ''Drammatico'' he MEANS it!

This symphony starts with a bang and keeps up the tension for a while, somthing I don't find in even the most dramatic music. (Ever get that let-down after a beautiful buildup in a Bruckner symphony?) If you are familiar with Mahler's symphnies you will recognize some of the colorful musical tricks used in this symphny, especially in the first movement. The second movement starts as a lyrical song. I only heard it once so I haven't figured out how it gets so intense about 12 minutes into the section. Bottom line: A gorgeous symphony. You will definitely NOT be bored! Perfomance: Hard to judge, knowing only one rendition.
