Marsden wickedly crafts extremely sexy, graphic scenes that still manage to move the storyline along.  Perhaps the trick lies in creating fully developed characters, ones that are multi-dimensional, flawed and still wholly appealing.  Watching Tuesday run from her past and fall into a sort of rabbit hole of a present makes her trek to find her way to a new life so much more fulfilling than just a "steamy read".  Tuesday fights the desire to have those connections she craves and despises - ranting her fears and frustrations to the comforting presence of her recently passed grandmother's home - as if it's spirit can help heal her own broken one.  What seems like it should be a straight up sultry erotic romance actually proves to be so much more and this reader was impressed with the range of emotions evoked in the course of Tuesday's journey to find love....and herself.

Words of Wisdom

The sexual encounters are what are most memorable upon completing this book.  The scenes are varied and creative.  They're super steamy with an intense build-up of sexual tension leading to a few scenes late in the story with heavier BDSM elements.  This whole read felt like one big fantasy and I look forward to entering other fantasy worlds Ms. Marsden creates in the future and recommend you do to. Restless Spirit is a deeply erotic novels. The sex scenes are frequent, detailed and exquisitely carnal. Tuesday is comfortable in her own skin and her sexuality. She boldly and unapologetically embraces her sexual needs and desires.

He pulled me to him. Really pulled me. I slid across the crisp white sheets on my belly, randomly grabbing at folds of cloth as Stan pounded into me.

‘Stay with me, Tuesday,’ he said.

I knew he didn’t mean keep up, or come with him, or fuck with the same enthusiasm. He meant don’t go and don’t go wasn’t something I could consider.

‘Shut up, Stan.’

I felt it curling like a flame in my belly, my pussy, my thighs. The flashing, pulsing heat that always means I’m going to come. When Stan got behind me and manhandled me, fucked me hard but said sweet words, it always worked me up. When his fingers dug into the meat of my hips and he moved like a man possessed, my entire being seemed to thrum with the pulse in my neck and my belly.

‘Don’t tell me to shut up,’ Stan said, laying a hard blow on the flushed skin of my ass. But it only made it worse. It only made me worse.

I shoved my hand under my body, finding my clit with slippery fingers. I rubbed hard, way harder than I normally would if anyone were watching me. I thrust my body hard against my hand even as I tried to toss myself back against him. Impaling myself on Stan’s big cock. Throwing myself back into his strong hands. The sexual version of the Nestea plunge, just giving up and hurling myself back into empty space. The unknown.

My pussy started to seize up around him and he grunted, ‘Not yet, girl,’ and pulled free of me.

I made a noise like something feral, but the world turned suddenly and he had me on my back. The bulk of him, six foot three-ish of huge man, hovering over me and prying my legs wide. Stan settled himself between my thighs, finding my slippery slit with his fingers and then his cock.

His mouth came down hard and sweet and needy. ‘Don’t leave, Tuesday,’ he said again. ‘Or take me with you.’

‘Shut up, Stan,’ I said again. And to help him shut up, I wrapped my legs around his thick waist, opened my body to him, tightened my cunt muscles and as an afterthought, I turned my head, sucked his big finger into my mouth and licked it like I always licked his cock.

Stan, good old Stan, hissed like a scalded cat and whispered, ‘Christ.’

‘Fuck me, Stan,’ I said this time and he buried his handsome face in my neck and set about doing just that. His stubble scraped my flesh raw, his fingers bruised my skin, his bulk crushed the air out of me and it was perfect.

It was what I needed. To forget and to get lost. To open my body and close my mind and feel Stan’s broad slippery cock ramming into me like he was punishing me, but in the most delicious way, for leaving him.

When he pinned my wrists down by my sides and damn near smashed me flat with his 200 plus pounds. When he sucked the whimpers and the moans off my lips and swallowed them down. When he ground his hips in that way he has and rocked from side to side. That’s when I came.

‘You’re leaving me, Tuesday, aren’t you?’ he said.

‘Honey, we were never really together,’ I told him.

He sighed, his finger running over my dusky nipple making it stand up like some well trained thing.

‘I know.’

‘I know you do.’ I brushed my fingers through his reddish brown hair and he flared his hand over my belly so the muscles twitched.

‘Why, Tues?’

‘I’m too fucking damaged, Stan.’

He didn’t argue. Stan had been fucking me for months. And we’d been having this post coital back and forth for almost as long. He didn’t argue because for the most part, Stan knew I was right.

When he left he threw his final say over his shoulder on his way out the door. ‘You’re not damaged, Tuesday. You’re restless.’

    Review:

First, I have to say I liked this book.

Now, I have to say this is a hard book for me to categorize...it is erotic romance with suspense added in.

What I like and dislike about this is that the Lead character, Tuesday is the Restless Spirit. I like that she is free spirited, strong, comfortable with her sexuality. What I do have a problem with is that even though Tuesday tells the men in her life that she does not want commitments I have a problem with her having sex with one then another. This did not interfere with me enjoying the story as a whole and I would totally recommend the book.

Tuesday has escaped from an abusive ex and moved into her Nan's home after she passes away. As she settles into life in the small town she gets reacquainted with the handyman caretaker, Adrian that she knew from her youth. She also meets Sheperd her neighbor and Reed former television star now farmer. Tuesday's sexual encounters with all three men are extremely sexy and sensual. But someone has been lurking around and the incidents escalate as Tuesday gets closer to one of the men, and yes, I am not going to tell you which one.

I loved reading Tuesday's journey through sensual and emotional discovery and highly recommend this book.

Tuesday Cane wasn’t my favorite day of the week, even though I ended up liking her all the same. Our relationship proved a bit tumultuous at times, as she bounced between men with a slap happy insistence that caused my head to jerk about as frequently as a male teenager with ADD. She dialed 3825 (to copulate) so often that she must have had it preprogrammed into her phone at the top of her speed dial. And there was so much screwing and yanging the wang I wouldn’t have been surprised if my pages weren’t somehow lubricated.

RESTLESS SPIRIT could have been the name of a horse, or it could have been a metaphor for the way I felt as I devoured this book, the pages filling my fantasies six ways from Sunday, the days of the week flying by in epic and unexpected passion. The bare sex scenes heightened my senses to the point that I felt a part of the action, peering out of the bedroom closet with one eye focused on the prize, and There’s Something About Mary doesn’t have anything on the sticky hair scene contained in this novel.

Shepard Moore proved every bit as strong as Tuesday Cane, but I found Adrian and Reed Green a bit lacking in the strong and silent type department. Tuesday, however, proved plenty restless, and worked her way up and down the small town. If she didn’t hold a certain appeal that I can’t quite describe, her finger hovering over the eject button might have shown me the error of my ways, or caused a sad shake of my head. But if it’s all the same to you, I’ll relish the wanton abandon contained within these pages, even as the ending was projected on my flat screen well before we reached the finish line.

All in all a fine read if you’re into that will she or won’t she sort of thing, but not one I’ll probably revisit anytime soon.

I received this book for free through NetGalley.

    Starting over isn't so simple...

Sommer Marsden is a well known, well respected author of Erotic Literature and after reading her book Restless Spirit, it is easy to understand why. It starts with sex and ends with sex—hot sex—with lots and lots of it sprinkled in-between. However, amongst the many mind blowing orgasms, there is a plot. I say this because I have read plenty of books of this nature that don’t. It twisted at the end and actually managed to surprise me, which was refreshing to say the least. The characters and situations were believable and realistic, not eye-rolling and cheesy. Sommer has this incredible way of balancing the emotional baggage of her characters and their hardships in life with sweetness, vulnerability, and yes even humor. Tuesday Crane, a self proclaimed “nobody’s girl,” is one such character and the heroine of this story. She is tough, independent and strong, and after fleeing an abusive lover, is determined to keep love at a safe distance. Shepherd Moore, local handyman and neighbor, is a dark brooding mystery with a secret past of his own, who challenges Tuesday’s resolve. Their union is raw, honest and healing, but not without some serious challenges along the way. I just couldn’t keep myself from rooting for them as I read. The sex scenes range from intense and animalistic to playful and fun, but all will find you squirming in your seat. They are well written, dirty and extremely graphic without being overtly vulgar. This book hooks you right away and keeps you reading, leaving you a bit “restless” yourself until the very last page!

I've not read many of Ms. Marsden's books, but as a reader who enjoys steamy reads, I found that what she's created meets all my steamy needs. From start to finish we're presented with three very different yet sexy and appealing men all trying to win the heart of mentally weakened through abuse by her ex, Tuesday Cane. This leads to numerous sexual interludes that become more and more intense as the story progresses.

Tuesday is a character that I both liked and was annoyed by. I admire her leaving her abusive ex and showing strength when her life is put at risk by a crazy stalker, but I felt she was using each of these men for almost the entire story by sleeping with all of them repeatedly. I know she's committment-phobic, but her actions lessened my favorable impression of her. Each of her suitors were appealing for a variety of reasons. Aidan was heroic, loyal, and protective. Reed was charming and carefree and could financially support her in comfort. Shepherd was mysterious yet understanding of Tuesday's dark needs since he's of the same mentality. He allowed her to be strong and never judged her. I can understand her dilemma considering how tempting all three of them are.

The issue with the stalker was subtly introduced with the perpetrator well concealed as the feelings of danger and paranoia believably escalated. His capture occurred quickly with this storyline wrapped up a bit too quickly and neatly.

    An intense read...

No matter how often I read Sommer Marsden's erotic romances, I am always surprised and delighted by the level of intensity she gives her characters. They multi-layered and often gifted with a dark sense of humor that lightens mood of these emotional stories. The men are irresistible and would make even the most staunchly independent woman beg to be rescued. In Restless Spirit Tuesday Cane has her choice of three though she knows from the very beginning that only one can pull her restless spirit back to earth. The question is will Tuesday Cane be strong enough to accept what he has to give.
