Editorial Reviews

Library Journal - Library Journal
Two of the five initial volumes in a new series on woodworking (the others cover cabinet making, marquetry, and wood turning), these books are well produced but lack focus. Too brief to provide full coverage of the topic and with too small a type size for the young adults who might have used them as introductions, these books miss whatever target audience they might have had. Both are translations from Spanish works, but authorship and translation are credited only on the publication data page--an oversight that detracts from the works themselves. Each volume lays outs the basics, but though color photographs appear throughout, they are not tied well to the descriptive text, which seems almost an afterthought. In addition, the glossary is very short. Superficial introductions to the complex crafts they treat, these books aren't specific enough for crafters with any experience and won't foster interest among amateurs. Not recommended.--Alex Hartmann, INFOPHILE, Skokie, IL Copyright 2000 Cahners Business Information.
