    Inspirational from Foreward to Epilogue

First of all, this book, and every review about it, will point out that it is important to read or watch A Christmas Snow prior to reading this book. This book may still be read without doing so, but it will spoil A Christmas Snow if you read or watch it later. It may be true that you might want to read this book after reading The Ultimate Gift and prior to watching The Lamp. This book offers a good impression before reading it. The cover feels comfortable and occasionally sparkles in the light. The cover also folds in, giving it a slight hardcover appearance. To add to the texture, the sides of the pages are uneven length and not cut straight. The foreward by Jim Stovall offers several inspirational lines that deserve to be remembered. The note from Tracy Trost explains what has happened up to where the story in Restored begins. I feel it is important to point out what this book is and what it is not. In my opinion, this book is not a story to entertain; it is a journal to inspire. It inspires very well, including the Epilogue which walks you through on how to apply the book to your own life. The book itself presents eleven areas to focus on your own spiritual journey; eleven areas that the author applies to his own life. Instead of listing the areas and telling you why you should include them, the eleven areas are experienced by the main character of the book. This is Sam's journal and it spans about one year. He was living in regret over leaving his daughter and wife many years ago. The journey starts as another man shares his faith and informs Sam that there is still hope in reconciling his past. His destination is his daughter living in Tulsa. He mentions he must first travel from Seattle to San Diego. Along the way, he meets others and has experiences (and lessons) which he journals into letters for his daughter. The travels take a year and he stops to earn money for the next leg of the journey. He journals eleven gifts: Faith that life change can happen; Courage to face fears of following your dreams; to leave new tracks as a Legacy opposed to bad ones you may be leaving; to realize any Giving no matter how small or in what form can make a life change for another; Freedom from your past (which I felt was more like Prioritizing your Dreams); realizing that Family is the most valuable of all your possessions; the Creativity of both our good and bad thoughts have led us to where we are today (and thoughts can be changed from bad to good); be Fearless of success because you do deserve it; finding a Purpose bigger than yourself, focusing on the reward not the paycheck; the Choice of life; and using Forgiveness to break free from the chains of your past. As mentioned, the Epilogue guides you in using these gifts for yourself. This is followed by a thank you from the author. As an added bonus, this book includes the first four chapters of A Christmas Snow. I would recommend this book. I would rate Sam's Journal at four stars; plus a bonus star for the Epilogue, and extra credit because I like the way the book itself feels in my hands.
