Retirement Ready or Not

Retirement Ready or Not

by Lee Rosenberg

Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
With only ten percent of Americans financially prepared to retire at 65, there is a large readership for a book like this. Rosenberg ( Fifty Fabulous Places To Retire in America , Career Pr., 1991) surveys the gamut of relevant topics. Longer valuable sections cover Medicare, Medicaid, and Medigap policies and whether to take lump sums if offered early retirement. All aspects of Social Security are well covered, including the latest tax law. Rosenberg discusses investing in mutual funds and stocks in general as a means of keeping inflation and taxes from reducing purchasing power over the longer lives we are coming to expect. He favors using Certified Financial Planners (he himself is one) to develop a total program. The final section lets the reader answer 80 questions to see how much has sunk in. Among the many retirement planning books now available, consider this one: it is affordable, simple, and current.-- Alex Wenner, Indiana Univ. Libs., Bloomington
