I'm really enjoying this series. Each book is equally as good as the last. Anna seems to get herself into a bind......again. This time, the witch, Belinda Burke, is back and she is using vampires for a very dark and may I say, "profitable" purpose. As usual, Anna is in the middle of it, and so is her partner's ex-girlfriend. Vampires are showing up dead-------at the same time, a new beauty product has hit the market, and it's leaving its users with some blood-thirsty side effects. Another interesting read!!

As much as I love the vampire mythos, the paranormal fantasy/romance world is wayyyyy too saturated with female protagonists who are either a vampire, vampire hunter, vampire employed as vampire hunter, or werewolf. I enjoy the Anna Strong chronicles but am not as excited about each book in the series as I am about the works of other writers. But on the plus side, this mixed bag review doesn't stop me from picking up each new book in the series. I guess I'm just looking for a little more originality in female protagonists these days. =)

I picked up the first book by JCS and fell in love! Although the protagonist isn't an original concept, JCS's ability to weave a great story is what keeps me coming back for more. The books offer a nice mix of action, drama, suspense and a bit of dry humor. It's not overly saturated with romance and romantic conflict. I have read all the books in the series and eagerly anticipate the next installment. I also recommend Chloe Neill, Caitlin Kittredge, Jennifer Estep, LA Banks, Jim Butcher, Rob Thurman to name a few.
