Overview

Brooklyn empress Cartier knows the streets of Brooklyn like nobody's business. In fact, she successfully built her Cartier Cartel drug ring on the code of the streets, hustling and stacking paper. However, the life of crime is wearing her down, and she's ready to quit the game when two of her Cartel soldiers are gunned down in the same streets that fattened her bankroll.

Now she's hell bent on seeking revenge for her friends, and she and her most loyal set out to solve the hood's whodunit. Along the way, tempers flare and love is tested as her prince steps out of line and sleeps with the enemy. Devastation reigns supreme in the streets of Brooklyn, while Cartier is constantly looking over her shoulder, wondering who will be the next to stab her in the back.

Editorial Reviews

Library Journal - BookSmack!
In this continuation of the inner-city saga of Cartier Timmons-Payne (after Cartier Cartel), Monya, her running mate, lies in a coma, and only the girl on life support can identify who gunned her down. Besides trying to figure out who is trying to move in on her business, Cartier has to deal with Jason, her cur of a husband, who sexes up a bevy of women. Jason's latest conquest is Jalissa, who may be more frenemy than lover. But Jalissa better watch out! Cartier throws a mean one-two combo with her fists when she learns other women are sleeping with her man. This is one cold-hearted woman.Verdict This novel's big draw is betrayal that includes, oh, let's see, at least four double-crosses. Santiago's story, thick with conniving thieves, will keep readers hooked to the last chapter. Rollie Welch, "The Word on the Street Lit", Booksmack! 10/21/10
