Overview

Eighteen million dollars has been embezzled from Continental Industrial. Unbeknownst to Nicholas Powlowski, the Cost Accounting Manager, he is the prime suspect. The Company hopes that an undisclosed review of its records, and a watchful eye on Nick, will provide evidence leading to his conviction, as well as discovery of co-conspirators and recovery of the stolen money.

After 20 sheltered years caring for his widowed, immigrant mother, in Manhattan's Hell's Kitchen, 42-year old Nick's experiences have not prepared him for what he'll encounter as he embarks on an attempt to make up for lost time and reclaim his life. Humorously grumpy Nick finds a confidant in Lanette Carlson, an earthy, vivacious young girl who left Kansas for the lure of the fashion world, and works as a stripper. Lanette has a strong will to succeed, but she often succumbs to the manipulation of her domineering family.

When Nick discovers a secret family fortune, he begins living an extravagant life that includes sexual escapades with a variety of women, which increases suspicion of him as the mastermind behind the embezzlement. During this period, Nick begins to overcome his lack of social skills to live the life he's regretted missing; but his new uninhibited life isn't bringing him happiness.

As the FBI closes in to make an arrest, Nick is desperate to find out who is framing him, and why. He enlists the help of a powerful underworld figure with the connections to obtain inside information. But will the price of what Nick is about to discover be too costly, and in more ways than one?

"Return to Go is a psychological portrait, colored with lust, exploitation, and enigmatic friendships; and painted with broad strokes of humor over a canvass of corruption and deceit."

I highly recommend this book. Great characters, you feel like you have known them forever. You read with an anticipation of what’s about to happen next. But what happens is never what you think. You cannot put it down; the last few chapters have you absolutely captivated It was a most enjoyable and satisfying read. I just bought “The Sheep Rise Up” by the same author Mitchell Graye. I’m looking forward to the new journey that he will be taking me on.

Great story. Great, realistic characters. Multiple sub-plots that tie to the main story, with no strings hanging loose at the end. An enjoyable page turner comprised of mostly short chapters. The author used an unusual style of writing the whole story in the present tense, actually making it feel like the story was presently happening. I really like this book.

Return to Go is a great thriller from start to finish. The main character deals with corruption, set-ups and having to make possible life or death decisions. Return to Go is not only full of action, it also has romanticism, humour, and friendship as well. If you are in the mood for a realistic thriller, look no further.

This book has characters that jump off the page and descriptions of scenes that make the reader feel as though he/she is actually at the location. The characters are everyday mainstream people that are slightly quirky and troubles find them. There are multiple sub-plots that are neatly tied together with no loose ends when you're finished reading. This book has a bit of the "what makes people tick" kind of thing, as well as mystery and humor. Very reader friendly writing style and with very short chapters, bringing the reader rapidly in and out of scenes and moving the story along. A very enjoyable book.

This fast paced and compelling novel has all the ingredients for success - interesting characters, fast moving plots (and sub-plots), humor and complex family relationships. The first chapter draws you in quickly and pulls you toward the conclusion with a hearty mixture of intrique and humor. Definitely a great read!

Impressive character development, I was really rooting for the protagonist. A lot of well constructed details, particularly related to different locations where the novel takes place.

It's been a while since I've found a book that grabbed me from the start and that I couldn't put down, and this is it. The characters are well-developed and likeable despite their flaws, and their interactions are well-captured with careful attention to the complexity of human nature. I would definitely recommend this to anyone seeking an engaging, witty, and suspenseful story.

This book kept me more engaged than any book I've read in a long while. The characters are well-developed and likeable despite their human flaws. There are many fascinating twists and turns and I couldn't put it down until I was done. I hope this is just the first in a string of many powerful books by this author.

As someone who gets bored very easily with most reads, this one had me wanting to read more. Characters are extremely well developed. Scenes are so well described, the reader feels he/she is really there seeing whats happening as opposed to reading it. Plot layed out very well with some great surprises and twists. Easy to get immersed in this book and hard to put down.

Return to Go is a satisfying fast read that you won't want to put down. The author kept me off guard with a plot that continues to twist in unexpected ways. I found that I could relate to the characters and continued to worry about them as I read. You will be looking for a sequel at the end of this book.

This was a fast and satisfying read. All the characters were well developed and believable. Unlike so many books of this genre, the author ties up each plot line nicely. I truly enjoyed it and look forward to this author's next work.
