Overview

The enchanting town of Sawyerton Springs does exist. New York Times best-selling author Andy Andrews has found it in the hearts of those who long to take a deep breath, relax, and take the time to find the humor and meaning in everyday life. There's a little bit of this small town in all of us - a place apart, "behind the times," inhabited by a cast of characters we seem to have known for years. The sounds, smells, colors, and textures of Sawyerton Springs are within you - an instinctive, almost mystical longing for a simpler time. In Sawyerton Springs, everyday occurrences are assigned a calm purpose. The town has no lawyers - it doesn't need any. The local paper comes out weekly, and everyone already knows what it says. Email, the Internet, computers, faxes, cell phones, microwaves, cappuccinos, call waiting, and caller ID don't exist here. The town has no traffic lights - there aren't enough cars to warrant any. This is a story that reflects upon the seemingly ordinary parts of our everyday lives - and how they are actually extraordinary parts of something much greater. Savor the time you spend in Sawyerton Springs. You might just find another hometown you want to claim as your own!.....Andy Andrews, hailed by a New York Times reporter as someone who has "quietly become one of the most influential people in America," is a best-selling novelist and in-demand corporate speaker for the world's largest organizations. He has spoken at the request of four different U.S. presidents and at military bases worldwide. Andy is also the author of The Traveler's Gift, The Lost Choice, Island of Saints, and The Noticer. He lives in Orange Beach, Alabama, with his wife, Polly, and their two sons.

If you want to smile - Read this book!

This book is an easy and entertaining read. It left me reminiscing of my life growing up in a small town. I found myself sharing the stories with my husband and son after they stared at me for laughing out loud.

Small town, South Alabama living - you can't beat it!!

I live in the Dothan, Alabama area which is refered to in this book on a coupe of ocassions. I grew up in a small community in Southeast Alabama. This book reminds me just how wonderful life in the South in small towns can be!!! It sure reminded me of my time as a young person. If I did not know better, I would have thought he was referring to me and my friends.

    Highly recommended!

Andy Andrews recalls life on the Gulf Coast during WWII. His understanding of human nature and ability to write vividly and in the voice of a native make this a totally enjoyable and uplifting read.

Enjoyable read! A great mix of humor and Southern story-telling!

Loved this book... Each chapter unfolds like a short story, so the book can be read all at once or in quick snatches. Found myself giggling out loud throughout. Being from a small Southern town myself, I could easily relate and visualize the scenes that Andy Andrews describes with his warm Southern charm and wonderful humor.

Great story - you will love it.

Again with Andy Andrews you are never sure how much is fact and how much is fiction. I suspect this book is more fact than fiction. In any case it could be used for numerous scripts of the Andy Griffith show. It was like visiting Mayberry. Delightful characters and events. Good clean fun and entertainment.
