Reunion is such a wonderful and powerful book! I wish everyone could read this book! Lauraine delves into very real and very emotional issues. Keira and Kirsten walk through some very difficult trials but neither one of them does it alone. With the unconditional love and support of family, they face the truth and consequences of their actions, as well as the actions of others. They learn that facing the "truth" is not always the easy thing to do BUT it is ALWAYS the BEST thing to do! To me, when unconditional love is given, it provides a strength that allows me to face things that otherwise I wouldn't be able to. When that unconditional love is coupled with forgiveness... WOW! Love and Forgiveness are universal ~ Reunion is a great testimony for both! Sarah Reck and HachetteBookGroup/Faith Words ~ Thank you sooo much for allowing me to read this complimentary book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Reunion is a novel about tight knit family that have secrets. Keira Johnson, while taking care of her mother's house and figuring out what to do with everything after her passing, finds her birth certificate. What she finds totally throws her for a loop, she shares what she finds with her sister in law Leah. Between the two of them they search the house for more clues. Meanwhile Leah's daughter Kirsten has a secret of her own. She is just about ready to graduate high school and has definite plans for the future, college, then medical school which has been a dream of hers since she was little. The father of the baby, her boyfriend Jose, also has plans for college. Leah shares the news with her husband Marcus, who is a pastor. Marcus is totally unprepared for this news as the family is very religious and life what they preach, until now. Keira keeps her news from her brother as she does not want to tell him anything because she wants to investigate more. What ensues is a story that will change the two families forever, do they do the right thing because it is expected of them and will certainly cause a scandal, or do they go with their hearts to find the answers for the two problems the families face. Other side story's that affects the families is a devasting tornado in another community that takes up the attention of the families, Kirsten's graduation, and a family reunion. A heartwarming story about love, faith and doing the right thing against all odds. This novel is a fast paced story that will keep you turning the pages. I highly recommend it.

I did not like this book. It moved slowly and the foreshadowing was so obvious that a blind man could see it.I skimmmed most of it. I did not really like any of the characters. This book was about as interesting as a sermon. Therefore if you love god, church and "the message," then this book will fill your heart with joy.

I respect how the author writes from her own experiences and handles the teenage pregnancy in the novel. That being said, I found the book to alternated between interesting and tedious. It was most interesting when the author wrote from Kirsten's (the teenager's) point of view. The "adult's" portions of the book contained too many details of what they were having for dinner/dessert or what kind of tea they would have. There were also entire portions of the dialogue without a tag (words which identify which character is speaking) which made it hard to follow. In my opinion it's a book with a good plot that gets lost at times in mundane details.
