I broke the cardinal rule of books! "Never judge a book by its cover." Too late. This book is beautiful to hold and to skim pages, to touch and also to read. Everything about it is gorgeous which makes it a perfect GIFT book. Revealing Jesus is a 365 day devotional coming from the heart of acclaimed Worship leader, Darlene Zschech. Each daily entry has a verse to prompt your thoughts. There are a lot of entries from the Psalms, drawing you into honest worship and adoration. Each page then describes a thought or insight or story inspiring you to focus on Jesus and is followed by a short prayer. It was encouraging to see the heart of this woman in her words and stories.  The pages are dated from January 1st to December 31st. The actual reading on the pages is minimal - a quick and easy activity for every day - much like reading a Daily Bread entry. Each month has a beautifully crafted cover page with hand-scripted lyrics to hymns and songs. Again ... Beautiful! I recommend this book to anyone wanting a brief scriptural reading for each day. It is also a wonderful gift idea for a Grad or on Mother's Day or any day as a matter of fact. Thanks to Baker Publishing Group and Graf-Martin for the free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Although cautioned not to judge a book by its cover, the first thing the reader notices is the beautifully designed hardcover of Revealing Jesus.   This beautiful book is a companion to the album of music by the same name.  It is ideal for Christians looking for inspirational readings on the passion and resurrection of Christ and is perfect for gift-giving. The book is a 365 day format with uplifting readings for each day.  Each daily reading has a Bible verse, a short reflection and a prayer to help apply the topic of the day’s message.  Written by songwriter-performer Darlene Zschech, each reflection provides revelation, motivation and comfort in the lesson.  Revealing Jesus is a book to keep, bookmark, love, and read, year after year for Christians who want to grow closer to their Savior.  Revealing Jesus can only bring readers joyfully closer to Him, day by day. Those who are familiar with Darlene Zschech’s songs, including Shout to the Lord, will love this companion book.  All readers who wish for a closer relationship with Jesus will love this opportunity to spend a few minutes with Him each day, learning how to know and  serve Him better. I was given a free copy of this book by Bethany House Publishers to read and review.  I highly recommend Revealing Jesus to readers of all ages.

I love this devotional - I have trouble not reading ahead and sometimes do and then just reread the message again the next day.

Revealing Jesus- A 365 Day Devotional by Darlene Zschech, a beautifully designed hardcover book looks like a piece of art. A high relief embossed like cover on a green, aged like foil background makes this book visually appealing. The antique like graphics and use of bold color in the interior makes this devotional book inviting to read. It makes the reader want to read this book. In contrast to the numbers of Christian devotional books, the visual presentation is sure to set this volume apart from the rest of the devotional genre. Yet the content is what constitutes makes a book, not simply its cover. This devotional is pretty standard in that it is divided by the calendar year- 12 months and one devotional per day. Each devotional is quick- a few short paragraphs based on the theme. A selected verse is highlighted and the daily devotional text is beneath- which is also the common format in most yearly devotional books as well. The devotional styles are varied in that one day, there might be the text of a well known hymn/ psalm and the next a quick spiritual tidbit. The devotionals are spiritually refreshing and very simple. There is no heavy theology like you would find with Spurgeon, C.S. Lewis or Billy Grahm. This is good in that the information is easily digested no matter where the reader may be in his or her walk with God- just beginning or advanced. Simple daily topics such as leadership, gracious giving, worship, temptation, financial debt, false gospels and spiritual gifts are just a sampling of what is covered. Pretty much after 365 days, a lot of material is covered- and every reader will find at least some of the material directly applicable. Zschech writes with the busy, time pressed reader in mind- a reader whose busy schedule might not allow for a lot of time to read. She speaks directly to the reader. In contrast to many female writers, Darlene's devotional will have a broad appeal for men and woman alike. I can not find any segment of the population that might find themselves alienated, excluded or offended. This book is general enough to appeal to all readers, and thankfully, the author does not rely on her own personal anecdotes as a springboard to begin each day. Often, especially with women writers, their books and devotionals are often based on their own experiences and stories which they share with the reader. It is so easy to lose interest in writers who base their works on their own personal stories. Its often a chore to trudge through someone's personal anecdotes and I find they usually alienate those readers whose lives differ and can not relate to the specific experience. Darlene leaves out the personal anecdotes to her credit which is a big plus! I found the material varied enough to keep any reader's interest as there were devotionals based on Christian day to day living, passaged based on biblical personalities, bible events, and focus on psalms and hymns. This devotional book is certainly not monotonous. I can see how a reader may be tempted to read large chunks of this book in one sitting rather than simply one devotional per day for an entire year. Overall, I found the regal presentation worthy of the devotionals presented. As a blogger I received this book published by Bethany House for the purpose of writing this review.

If you long for more of God's presence, real rest and peace, and to see Him work in your life, this devotional is for you. This book was birthed on the pages of Darlene Zschech's journals. It is very honest, yet beautifully written. Each month is devoted to a study of a particular character of God. January ~ Faithful February ~ Solid Rock March ~ Shield April ~ Holy One May ~ The Gate June ~ Savior July ~ Risen One August ~ Redeemer September ~ Breath of Life October ~ Peace November ~ Friend of Sinners December ~ Messiah ¿ Darlene Zschech encourages you to "Come, sit at the feet of our Lord, be strengthened in your weakness, embrace His love for you, and breathe in His peace." I have been on the hunt for a daily devotional of some kind for a few months now, ever since I got all excited about using another one that didn't work out. I have found it. This is a 365 day devotional that devotes 1 page to each day, sometimes they are written by Darlene, sometimes they are pulled from other places. Every day's reading begins with a verse, from any of a number of different translations and personally I like that change up. It's visually appealing as well.  I love this using this book as part of my devotions and scripture reading to kick of my day. This book has been provided courtesy of Baker Publishing Group and Graf-Martin Communications, Inc. Available at your favourite bookseller from Bethany House, a division of Baker Publishing Company.

The Revealing Jesus worship album wasn't only a straightforward recording of a live worship. I loved that they explained what the songs meant, shared to the listener the significance of the words sung so that we don't just blurt out empty words with melody. Since they shared how the songs affected their worship experience, it lets the listener and the reader get into a deeper level of worship. The devotional brings us closer to Jesus one day at a time. Each daily devotion is kept short but with substance so that we can devote more time to worship and pray. Both the songs on the album and the devotions in the book are all centered on one thing -- or should I say person -- and that is Jesus. Every Christian wants to be more like Jesus -- and let me clear that, we want to be like Jesus, not be Jesus. But how can we be more like Jesus if we don't spend as much time getting to know Him? This devotional and worship album helps us desire for more of Him!
