Doody's Review ServiceReviewer: Karen Patena, MBA, RHIA (University of Illinois at Chicago)
Description: The book is a series of questions covering topics included on the national registered record administrator (RRA) and accredited record technician (ART) certification examinations.
Purpose: The purpose of the book is to help graduates of health information administration and technology programs prepare for the national certification examinations.
Audience: The audience may be recent graduates of health information administration and technology programs. Individuals who are retaking the examination may also find the review questions useful.
Features: The book is written by three instructors in a health information administration program. There are 600 questions and answers in 10 subject areas. The appendixes contain rates and percentages that most graduates like to study in addition to the other questions.
Assessment: The book provides a good general review. The book appears to cover all the required subject areas. However, a number of the questions use "all of the above," "none of the above," and "A or B" as answers. These types of options are not recommended for certification exams. The authors may need more current and commonly used references or textbooks as sources of information.
