Overview

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is the fastest growing modality in diagnostic imaging. There are now thousands of MRI facilities across the United States and around the world, employing huge numbers of technologists. The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists has, with the help of experts in the MRI and educational fields, devised a multiple choice examination that is intended to ensure that all technologists have the required level of knowledge to practice MRI safely and competently. Carolyn Kaut and William Faulkener, experts in the field of MRI education, have compiled this book to help students prepare for the registry examination. The questions follow the structure of the syllabus and are intended to help readers test their understanding of the subject and identify any gaps in their knowledge. The book is extremely comprehensive, covering all the aspects of the examination, including patient care and safety, imaging procedures, pulse sequences and data acquisition, and imaging artifacts and options.

Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher
"This is a great tool that MRI technologists could use as a trial run for the examination. This is the best type of review book, since it mimics the format of the actual exam. It also would be helpful for seasoned MRI technologists who want to remain fresh in this ever-advancing field." (Doody's, 5 July 2013)
Doody's Review Service
Reviewer: Kelley J Thounlasenh, RT (R)(MR) B.S.(Froedtert Hospital)
Description: This update of a review book has been extended to cover the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) exam in addition to the American Registry for Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) MRI exam.
Purpose: The purpose is to prepare MRI technologists for a registry exam. The questions are on topics listed in the content specifications offered by AART.
Audience: This book is written for MRI technologists preparing for these exams. Technologists should already be well versed in the various aspects of MRI (physics, imaging acquisition, data acquisition and processing, and patient care). The authors' longevity in the field makes for a strong knowledge base and understanding of types of questions on the exam.
Features: This book has multiple choice questions based on different aspects of MRI. The best part of this book is its thoroughness in all areas that will be on the exam (different categories of questions). The images are a great learning aid; even more graphics/images would be helpful in explaining answers to questions in some areas (especially in the data acquisition section).
Assessment: This is a great tool that MRI technologists could use as a trial run for the examination. This is the best type of review book, since it mimics the format of the actual exam. It also would be helpful for seasoned MRI technologists who want to remain fresh in this ever-advancing field.

I purchased this to help study for the registry. Unfortunately

I purchased this to help study for the registry. Unfortunately some of the question/answers are out of order. And some of the answers just plain wrong! For instance, SAR, on question 169, is specific absorbtion rate, NOT, susceptibility attack region as the answer states. If this was the only study guide I was using, that type of miss matches would really screw me up. I know that this guide is coming out in print in June 2013, hopefully this will have been caught. If not, buyer beware. Luckily I have been through an MRI course and am not just using this review. If you haven't, please invest in more study materials than just this guide. All in all, this could be much better, however I think it is the editing and not Ms Roth that is at fault. The information is present, it just seems to have gotten a bit jumbled
